World's Oldest Man Turns 112
TOKYO (AFP) - The world's oldest man celebrated his 112th birthday Tuesday with a healthy Japanese breakfast of rice, miso soup and seaweed, saying he wanted to live forever.
Tomoji Tanabe, who has been the world's oldest man since January this year, lives with his son and family in Japan's southern prefecture of Miyazaki. He keeps a diary and reads the newspaper every day.
"I want to live indefinitely. I don't want to die," he said as he marked his birthday, Kyodo News reported.
Tanabe, a teetotaller who has repeatedly said that avoiding alcohol is a secret of his longevity, was given a certificate from the Guinness Book of World Records by the mayor of his local municipality in June.
Japan has the largest population of centenarians in the world. The number of Japanese aged at least 100 years old is expected to top 30,000 by the end of September, the health ministry said in a recent report.
The Japanese people's renowned longevity is often attributed to eating the country's traditional healthy food, despite the hectic lifestyle many lead in the big cities.

The Girl Who Chopped Up Her Father With An Ax
Yesterday, a 16-year old girl chopped up her sleeping policeman father with an ax. How? Why? What the...? The details of the crime make it all the more interesting. Here are some factoids from the Mainichi news reports:
1. The girl allegedly crept up on her sleeping father past 4am on Tuesday morning, and chopped him in the neck. She lived with her father, mother, and sister in Kyoto.
2. The night before the murder, the girl had gone to bed early, around 9PM, after eating a bento.
3. Right before killing her father, the girl changed into a black dress.
4. At the time of her arrest, the girl admitted to the crime, saying: "I hate my father."
5. She bought the ax a couple days prior at a hardware store near their home.
6. Suspected motive is her dad's extramarital affairs.
7. In response to this incident, a Kanagawa TV station cancelled the last episode of an anime that featured a teenage girl lashing out violently.

Yeah, I read about this story on another website. In typically understated Japanese fashion, the last line of the story said: "The girl harbored resentment toward her father"
This is just terrible. Stuff like this keeps popping up in the news EVERYWHERE and I'm always shocked at how indifferent I'm beginning to become to such news. _________________

Most of them do...and then they pump strangers to buy LV bags as revenge f*cks for their dads cheating on their moms.
That's a great conclusion!!!
My conclusion would be we'll soon see another girl cuts his father's >>EHEM!!!<< to get revenge rather than the LV bag... _________________

15-year-old boy arrested for attacking father with ax
TATSUNO, Nagano -- A 15-year-old boy was arrested for attacking his father with an ax early Monday, leaving him with severe head injuries, police said.
The boy, a third-year junior high school student, was arrested for attempted murder after he turned himself in to police. Investigators are questioning the boy, whose name is being withheld under the Juvenile Law, over the motives for his crime.
At about 2 a.m., the boy hit his 44-year-old sleeping father in the head with an ax several times at his home in Tatsuno, local police said. When paramedics arrived at the victim's home, he was bleeding from his head, but was fully conscious. (Mainichi)
