The Japanese do not steal. PERIOD. I remember going to a beach in Kamakura and forgot my snorkeling gear in the parking lot. I was already 5 kilometers down the road mind you and returned to find my stuff untouched. If this were Hawai'i or California, my ish would've been scooped with the quickness. 99.99% of the time I feel completely safe. I don't feel I will get jacked walking down the street late night. I do not lock my car at home and sometimes I leave my front door unlocked when I go out.

Typical knee-jerk reaction: people are wailing about the safety of nuclear reactors now... Shake Head

You raise a good point. Much of the reporting from various news reporting agencies/sources worldwide regarding the Japanese nuclear reactor issue has been widely inaccurate and sensational. Without a doubt, the threat is real but the lack of factual reporting is creating confusion and generating unnecessary hysteria in an already tense situation.

Morons concerned with ratings.

Dude if I hear another Chernobyl reference I'm going to kick somebody in the nuts. This crisis is absolutely nothing like Chernobyl.

well, brother you can't blame anyone when there is that 3rd explosion a while ago. The second reactor just exploded and the engineers have evacuated.

From Japan's standpoint, I can understand the concern, but if the media here (U.S.) is just out of control... It's almost exploitative.

The panic they're creating is like yelling "Fire!" in a crowded movie theater.

The media outlets needs to be more responsible.

Arhhhhhh! You mean A-M-E-R-I-C-A-N TV. Smack! Sorry, not able to empathise because I don't watch ABC, CBS, NBC, and that Chicken Noodle Network.

This is an alternative : http://www3.nhk.or.jp/nhkworld/english/radio/ondemand.html

Those nuclear physicists in the closets must have been so busy appearing on TV round the clock.

Well, that's what we're saddled with here in Ugly American Land.

I have been watching the NHK broadcasts on SoCal's 18.2 station, but they've gotten repetitive after a while.

I suppose that's because France's politicians are the strongest nuclear energy supporters in Western Europe, an important income as they sell electricity to neighboring countries. You may recall that they went as far as denying the Chernobyl cloud, insisting that it had stopped at the Alps, when the rest of Europe was getting instructions on how to protect themselves. My French friends are still angry abt that.

Sorry to have mentioned the C-word! Bow
