And the USS Ronald Reagan was already subjected to a radioactive plume when they arrived...

Moreover, that's not the only naval vessel on station. In addition, we are ferrying supplies and military personnel in and out of Yokota and Misawa air force bases for the purposes of disaster relief

How many rubber dinghies did Europe send?

We understand one another.

OT, reports state that new powers lines to the electric cooling system at the Fukushima plant are nearly finished. I hope the system still works once it's electrified, because they need to get the reactor situation under control.

One of the concerns is whether or not the cooling system hardware (pumps, valves, etc.) were damaged from the earlier explosions... Sweat

Definitely. This squirting of water with Nerf water cannons isn't cutting it though. Sweat

It'd be more effective to get all the drunk salarymen to piss on the reactors, man. If the cooling system doesn't work, it's time to start dropping boric acid on the reactors.

I've heard them mention the boric acid...

Boric acid?

EDIT: Oh:

Boric acid is used in nuclear power plants as a neutron poison to slow down the rate at which fission is occurring. Fission chain reactions are generally driven by the amount of neutrons present (as products from previous fissions). Natural boron is 20% boron-10 and about 80% boron-11. Boron-10 has a high cross-section for absorption of low energy (thermal) neutrons. By adding more boric acid to the reactor coolant which circulates through the reactor, the probability that a neutron can survive to cause fission is reduced. Therefore, changes in boric acid concentration effectively regulate the rate of fission taking place in the reactor. This method is only used in pressurized water reactors (PWRs). Boron is also dissolved into the spent fuel pools containing used uranium rods. The concentration is high enough to keep neutron multiplication at a minimum.

And is also used to make Silly Putty.

Maybe the helicopters should be dropping Silly Putty eggs into the reactors. Bleah

These big pools of water got up there somehow. Big surprise, there are pumps installed. Only thing is, they need electrical power. Now where would they get that from? They're working on that.

Ironically, the aircraft carrier is nuclear-fueled. I seem to recall some issue the Japanese government had sometime ago, with some of the ships that were either nuclear-fueled or possibly carrying nuclear weapons.

It's also strange that the yen is under 80 to a dollar.

Can we really trust a christian science site? "DOn't panic, whatever happens Jesus will save us... argllll!"...

Mr Green

President Sarkozy said he's willing to go to japan. Hope he will go to help in the Fukushima plant... with his wife and his ministers if possible.
