Nana 2 sucks....
I just got the English subs from Kloofy today.....
...no wonder it flopped in Japan. It doesn't have the character and spark that Nana did. Although Yui Ichikawa is not a bad actor despite having satellite dish like ears she is not nearly as good as Aoi Miyazaki in the role of Nana Komatsu. Miyazaki was waaaaay better. |
I finally watched it last Saturday. I already had a DVD copy last July 7, but school kept me busy so I only had the chance yesterday.
And damn, did it suck. I got excited over nothing.
First of all, Mika Nakashima and Nobuo Kyo had no chemistry at all. And Ichikawa Yui's acting was awkward most of the time.
I didn't really think that needed spoiler tags, bu oh well.
And what's up with the sudden scene shifts? It makes me feel like there's an uncut version for NANA 2.
I bet they're reaaaally sorry they didn't pick out Miyazaki Aoi. _________________

Yeah that's the unfortunate truth...the film didn't seem spirited at all. It lacked the "magic" of the first film and it seemed like the actors where just going through the motions.

Her performance was far inferior to that of Aoi Miyazaki, that's for sure.

Of course. The movie totally flopped in the theaters...it made only a fraction of the first film which was considered a blockbuster hit when it came out. The filmmakers just cobbled together an inferior product hoping that just because ppl enjoyed the first film so much ppl would AUTOMATICALLY flock to see the sequel....I guess they didn't give the Japanese public much credit.
Like you said the film felt really disjointed and very incomplete...it was a far cry from the first film.

I am definitely not a fan of Yui Ichikawa....when I heard the news that she was going to replace Aoi Miyazaki's place as Nana in the sequel of the movie, I already had doubts.
She wasn't able to bring out the bubbly, sweet personality that her character had at all. Her performance in the film felt really forced in my opinion. She just didn't bring out the character as well as Aoi Miyazaki did.
No offense to Yui's fans here. Just expressing my opinion. ^^;; _________________ Matsuyama Kenichi wa SAIKOU desu! 0(^^)0

the only bubbly thing from yui ichikawa was her bubble shaped big ears....she was not good as Nana Komatsu....

the movie was basically a small disaster. the undeniable chemistry b/n miki nakashima & aoi miyazaki was sorely missed. the supporting cast (some changed from the original) also didn't help out.

yea, I read the posts above and how it was a total flop in Japan. Too bad Aoi turned the role down for the second. _________________

I think that's a bit of a misnomer...there was never any plan to film a second film....it was only after the first film sold like gangbusters that a second film was contemplated....by that point they couldn't secure aoi miyazaki for the second film and ended up picking the big eared broad from H2
they made a song about her..."Ears for Fears"...Shout Shout/ let it all out/ these are the ears that we're talking about, com'on....

Hmm... It is the entire movie... though they did not say so, you have to download all the segs from the download site. The soft subs are there too.
Now having said that, don't use that site. The subs are the worst I have ever ever seen. They are completely out of sync and are mostly literal translations which in English make no sense at all.
As I said on the what dramas are you watching, I had to stop after 10 minutes. I could not stomach Yui Ichikawa taking the place of Aoi Miyazaki. Hachi is firmly owned by Aoi Miyazaki and no one can take that from her.

Aoi did own. And the problem I know I'll have is that she was my fav from the first movie. I don't expect to enjoy the second if she's not in it. _________________

I had an error opening this one.
I spent all day downloading this one, only to find that the subs are in French. _________________
