Lol, well... I think she's one of the most beautiful women... especially now that she is a woman and not a girl anymore. I mean, yes, she was cute back in those days, but that was about it. She certainly didn't have this maturity which she has now. Can't wait till Chiaki is 30 hehe

i happened across rie miyazawa back in the early nineties when i first began to take an interest in japanese language & popular culture...she starred in the first drama i saw so there's a bit of nostalgic feeling there and, moreover, she was at the height of her popularity at the time....i think she has a very graceful beauty and i've always like her so to see her turn into one of japan's most accomplished actresses has been a true "coming of age" story. she went from fluffy pinup up girl to refined finesse.

i guess your favorite, c.k., has a ways to go until the big THREE O. Sweat

Refined finesse hits the spot, yep. Her Oshinon in Musashi was... wow, just wow. And her Tomoe in Twilight Samurai... mmmm... wonderful, just wonderful. Personally I think she fits perfectly in period dramas. She has this certain thing when wearing a kimono. They should give her Rie-hime as nickname.

We'll see about Chiaki in nine years hehe
*eyes Maeda Aki too* give it ten years for her to reach that spot hehe (OT, I was shocked when I saw how much that little, cute girl called Aki has matured by now when I saw her in Linda Linda Linda). I'm getting old...

yeah those roles in jidai geki pieces seem quite becoming on her. niaimasu yo...yeah i was really blown away by her performance in twilight samurai....i'm sure it seemed an easy choice awarding her best actress at the japanese academy awards that year.

9 years can seem to fly by at times...but in the meantime i'm sure you'll find other distractions on the entertainment front.

I think the chemistry between her and Sanada in Twilight Samurai was just right, and not just with him, just take Twilight's daughters.

And, no worries about that Bleah There's Rie, then CK, then the younger Maeda, not to forget Anne Suzuki, and of course, my personal queen, Hirosue Ryoko Bleah

as long as their are no unannounced pregnancies on their horizons you should be well distracted for the foreseeable future.

Hey now, I think Rie-hime (I really like that sound of that lol) is more clever than that, and even Royko's coming back Bleah

yeah but even yuko takeuchi had one of those...i really can't agree with that emphasis placed on these unannounced pregnancies but from a business perspective within the japanese entertainment industry it seems it can do blunders, not wonders, for your career.

Yeah, personally I think Ryoko and even Takeuchi made a "little" clusterfuck with doing it this way. I mean saying "Oh by the way, I'm getting married and am 3rd month pregnant"... that's like whacking people with a wooden mallet. In the end it all looks like shotgun marriages, he knocked her up, so he's gotta marry her.

Applaud Applaud Applaud

A thread for Rie. I loved her in Musashi as Oshino. I have read a number of articles about her. It seems she has lived a roller coaster life so far. She is a very beautiful and unique lady.

Here is an article about her.

yes, i've heard of this film but have not seen it...1992...the year that Tokyo Elevator Girl aired in Japan....she was "the darling of Japan" at that time. i'm not sure if there's a torrent for that film but i've not looked intensely for it.
