no dont take that personally, its not that at all, we're just joking.. plus issues like this are pretty common in asia specially.. i do wonder why they get with ugly women? could it be that the prett ones were either taken, or have high standards. and the common people i've heard from families are the ones i stated above.

Ooh I didn't take it personally. This seems to be the same no matter what race or nationality you are from. Do you know these old song lyrics?...."Never make a pretty woman your wife, if you wanna stay married for the rest of your life. So from my personal point of view, get an ugly girl to marry you." hehe

My theory is that if you date or marry someone a lot less attractive than you especially from another race, culture or nationality than they probably will worship and adore you, treat you like royalty and never leave you. It is a security thang! Bonk Smile

So technically, i was in a position of power. her trying to get me to marry her would have been an upgrading of her status... though im not white.

does being green count?

even if you're an american citizen you can still help her right?.. but then again, i suggest u to marry the one u love Mr Green

@enna, yeh i heard that lyrics before.. sorry i dont mean to sound ignorant in my previous post, Sweat i actually have nothing against people dating/marrying an ugly person, but imo, i think its the sweetest thing if you marry something out of unconditionally love. been there, done that, and its an awesome feeling. but i feel the same sentiments with Tu_triky's perspective. Mr Green

You never sound ignorant to me MixxDreamer. I like playing Devil's advocate sometimes. Sometimes I just ask questions to see where the discussion will go. I may seem more serious than I really am. Its all good! Thumbsup

Actually, I do not think you are Asian.

In my opinion if you grow up in the States you are not Asian American either.

YOU ARE AMERICAN. That is what America is all about.

I am not European American, I am an American.

Thank God for inter-racial marriages. Maybe more of them would fix things on this often backward and prejudiced planet.
Fingers crossed Fingers crossed

Interesting point Eve. Although isn't being Asian considered to be one of the four major races (Mongoloid) in the world and not a Nationality. So no matter where you live or hail from in the world an Asian is still an Asian.

Thought I'd put my experiences out there. I'm white, and I've dated three Asian (two American, one Taiwanese) women.

Considering I'm still living with my parents, a perpetual college student (seemingly), and currently working in stocking/recieving, I don't think the attraction was based on my status.

I know at least in the case of my ex from Taiwan, it had to do with my genuine interest in Asian history and culture, since we both met on campus. And maybe I was something different, I don't know.

The other two...I think it had less to do with race than similar interests, being friends first, and being in the right place at the right time.

I'm also senstive to what BMW was talking about, and you can see my thoughts on that in the second thread he posted.

I think a number of us are a little sensitized to the topic, that's why things got sorta heated at times... Sweat
