You'd have to think about stuff like:
1) Cultural exposure:
I.E. Is that person a minority where they grew up? If so then how many different culture have they been exposed to? So for instance, if you're African-American and you've grown up in a neighborhood/city that's majority upper to middle class caucasian; have parents and/or relatives and friends that mimic the white upper/middle class culture then think about it. You're more than likely going to be more attracted (if not fully attracted) to white, upper/moddle class men or women. More than likely that person won't even think about deviating from that they know as the "norm". The key phrase there was more than likely. It just depends on what you're used to. Status really isn't the main factor.
2) The media:
In this day and age, especially in the US, we're an extremely media-dependent generation. I mean seriously, how many people buy magazines (Cosmo, sports illustrated, playboy, People, etc)? Now then, think about the ratio of non-caucasian main stream celebreties to caucasian mainstream celebreties. Who do you see more? Who gets more exposure? So then, what culture are you going to lean towards more? Unlike African-americans and Mexican Americans who have a strong cultural identity and influence in the US (for reasons that I don't feel like writing about, but PM me if you're curious), some (not all) Asian Americans have yet to establish as strong a cultural influence/ identity in the US (but they're damn near close if you ask me ). So that also may explain a few cases of interatial relationships between caucasians and asians. In other words its a case of "the more you see someone/thing, the better they/it looks to you." It may seem crazy but it is as simple as that.
If anything that I said doesn't make sense then I'll try to explain things more clearly. Its just that I'm used to explaining stuff like this in long-@$$ papers with lots of background info. Plus my prof already knows what I'm basing things on, so it makes explaining stuff alot easier. Also, the stuff that I said by no means applies to every single asian, hispanic, african-american, caucasian person in the US or anywhere for that matter. Its more of a semi-hypothesis (semi because most of this stuff has already been "proven"). There absolutely are exceptions. The percentages for exceptions and non-exceptions to what I've said are damn close .
That's it my input . _________________ Hello there ^_^
