MANILA �\ The Philippines and Japan are set to sign in two weeks a bilateral free trade agreement which seeks to liberalize the flow of trade, goods and services between the two countries, a senior Philippine government official said Wednesday.
Philippine President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi will sign the "Japan-Philippines Economic Partnership Agreement" on the sidelines of the Asia-Europe Meeting on Sept 10-11 in Helsinki, Presidential Chief of Staff Michael Defensor said.
~~Does that mean a lot of Japanese stuffs will be imported??? and will be alot cheaper & updated??? like those of China goodies _________________

maybe bad. ano makukuha natin sa japan? sila mraming makukuha satin na dati pa nila nakukuha na cheap na rin. magpapasok ba sila ng investors dito? siguro gaganda ekomnomiya natin dun..pero maraming mamamatay na small industries kung ganun.
hay. hindi ako ekonomista para ma internalize ito. pero parang lugi tayo dito.
di rin naman magpapadala ng je stuff dito no. si johnny pa...
tapos yung mga appliances na gawang japan e mahal din, mas mahal pa sa galing isteyts. _________________

i want to have an optimistic view on that news, sana nga lang mas mabenta ang mga products ng pinas para sa mga nihonjins, mas mabuting mga raw materials ang i-import natin kaysa human trafficking kung mga electronics ng japan wag na lang mas ok ang cheap electronic stuff ng china at kung quality rin naman eh di nalalayo sa japan products...i hope it will benefit us pinoys iceuck taga opposition ka ba? j/k!!! _________________

ewan ko lang kung nadiscuss nio na to dito, yung sa Pinoy Dream Academy, meh kasaling half-pinoy, half-hapon. Tawa ng tawa kuya ko kasi pag naliligo daw naka-waterboys costume hehe. They say that its gonna be beneficial for both countries..... Japan will have more acess to our natural resources and we will import their finished poducts, our human resources will be more competitive when we go there, more investors will come.
This partnership is a bit biased as always. When it comes to government partnerships tayo lagi ang dehado dahil di marunong makipag transact ang Pres. natin or nagtatangahan na naman sila........ We can be more competitive even without the help of this other countries by spending peoples taxes in a more productive way..... like investing in our agriculture more.....
Agriculture is the one that made us famous in the first place. Nung dumating na kasi yung techy type of work dito na neglect na natin tong profit earning sector na to.

You do have a point there. But then again, without the aid of Japan, wala sana tayong magandang transportation (railways tulad ng MRT at LRT 2) at public highways (yung edsa-ayala road). It's important that we improve this things. Gaya nga ng Singapore's principle: a country that move people fast has a might economy. _________________

alam ko yung kay gillian cheung. nag email sa lahat ng members ng asianfanatics.net, at naglabas sila ng "official" statement nila kasi lumabas din yung pictures dun sa threads nila dun. they are condemning the hk paparazzi.
pero di ko kilala si gillian cheung.
at hindi pa rin ako convinced na marami tayong makukuhang mabuti sa fta. at hindi naman sa hindi marunong makipag negotioate si GMA (o ayan ipagtatanggol ko siya), siguro ipit lang talaga tayo. we have nothing much to offer so we can't demand much. we ask too much (in terms of aid) from these countries kaya nakakahiya naman if we still ask for more... well that's what i think.
pero kung susundin natin ang f4..don't stop ask for more. diba?

Im not against the partnership.... sana lang kasi di tayo masyadong dehado dun sa agreement .
Yun nga lang di tayo pedeng magdemand masyado kasi di naman tayo ganun ka globaly competitive when it comes to economy..... as for the time being we have to be satisfied with what other countries will give us kahit na yun nga medyo dehado tayo.....

i just met up with a friend who was in japan till last July, she told me she actually saw yamapi when she and a relative were in Roponggi clubbing..and there in front of them was yamapi in all his glory... hay. swerte! at hindi siya fan ni yamapi. kilala lang niya dahil kinababaliwan yun nung pinsan niya. haaay... _________________
