this photo is also outdated and he doesn't his best!!!!!
how about using his calender photos, I'm sure they can be easily
expanded for the right size?
No. Images can't be expanded, unless u want a poor quality pic, which I won't put up. The pic groink found is good. But if you want another pic, do try to find a better one? I'll wait. _________________
Though the size of the image is very important, there are other factors.
The most important factor is to give Genma as little work as needed in order for him to complete the image for the featured artist section. That means the image, when given to him, should already be of great quality.
Brightness, contrast and gamma should be crisp and balanced. Virtually all the images you've supplied contain bad gamma (i.e. they're very dark). Bad gamma is difficult to obtain the colors that the original had.
The resolution alone doesn't tell the whole story. Most of what you've posted so far were made by someone taking a photo of a magazine page. This causes the pixels to be blurred. Even if the image is large, scaling the image down to 400x450 may not come out all that clear.
The example of Yamada-san I posted earlier was meant to give you an idea of what Genma is looking for. Just about every one of the 50+ existing Featured Artist members have dozens of great quality images floating around the Internet. That's because popular Japanese drama actors have a huge following, with at least a few of the fans making available high-resolution images. I tried to avoid saying this, but if you can't find even one image on the Internet that fits Genma's requirements, then maybe the question should be raised as to whether or not Yamada Takayuki is even Featured Artist material.
Sorry if I'm putting Yamada-san down, but after the many postings made for this actor, I felt things should be put into perspective once and for all.
Okay, back on track with the topic at hand... In cleaning up my CD-Rs, I came across a scan of Yuka I just couldn't resist turning into a potential Featured Artist candidate:
Virtually every J-actor's dream is to appear in a taiga drama. Yuka has achieved that goal early in her career, appearing as the geisha Oyuki in Shinsengumi! ('04). However, fans are more familar with her role as Kobayashi Kano in the TBS series Love Story ('01). She's also made many TV appearances, dating back to '98. Non-drama fans know Yuka more as a "gavure" model, appearing in dozens of videos, magazines and other types of media. Photo books include CARAT and Innocent.
AWESOME groink!!!!
Only one thing, ......... it should be "Yuuka". (2 "u's")
Thanks!
That's interesting... In the JDorama.com database, it's spelled "Yuka". And, virtually all the image scanners name their files "yuka". Also, the Kanji characters themselves translate to "Yuka" when using the Romaji translation rules, even though the "D" sound is more like "yuu". It all depends on how anal a person is about it.
