RIP, Mr. Reeve. You're still a Superman, on and off the screen...

I'm guessing the Doctor Swan character on Smallville won't be appearing, either.

Wow. Pretty timely. I'm listening to the radio right now, 7:39pm, HI time, and I haven't heard anything about it yet (not saying that I disbelieve you, BMWRacer, obviously).

This is really shocking; the Superman of my time.

They said the he got some infection which is common for people with his type of paralysis and it became systemic... And the infection eventually put him into a coma...

I liked him in Superman when he fought that other Superman wannabe. The dude who got his power from the sun..... That was my favorite Superman movie. Big Grin

Yeah, I just heard about this. I'm SHOCKED. I think he was directing a movie recently too, and had gained some movement and sensation back in some parts. I am another one who backs stem cell research...

Different places are saying the cause of death is different. Some are saying heart attack, some are saying infection. From what I read, he had a pressure ulcer (commonly known to us as a bedsore) that he was being treated for. I guess he was at home and he had a heart attack, I assume from the infection being widespread. I read after he was taken in for the heart attack it was found his pressure ulcer was then severely infected and the infection had spread, and he fell into a coma.

I'm not a doctor, but my guess is that the pressure ulcer being infected caused sepsis, followed by a heart attack and falling into a coma as a result. Sepsis is serious stuff....can be very sudden and deadly.
