thanks Peg, I think I should give it a try and see how it goes Mr Green

I've just checked his official website. He'll be collaborating with Yoshida Brothers (kamisen players) in Yoshitsune. They will be in charge of the music production in Yoshitsune.

I love Yoshida Brothers. Their performance in SMAPXSMAP really blew me away Applaud

The Yoshida Brothers are simply awesome!!! Esp. their music video of "Rising." Yeah When did they appear on SmaSma when? When??????????? I wanna see their performance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nut

OT:

1. Huh, Osawa Takao sings? Egads.
2. Watching JIN now. Hey, the dude is cute! I like his eyes in particular. Naughty And he can act, too. I don't think I'm crazy over him, though; fangirling can be terribly exhausting, and heaven knows I have enough on my hands as it is. Beaten
3. Exactly how big is he in Japan? Like... Abe Hiroshi big? Karasawa Toshiaki big? Sorimachi big? Goro big? (Lol I don't even know what that means.) What's he been doing all this time and why haven't I come across any of his dramas/movies?
4. He looks better for a 42-y.o. than Kimura does for a 37-y.o., I'll say. Shake Head
5. That movie poster with him and the actress who played Widow Anzai on Pride => love it!

The only other thing I've seen him in was the film Christmas on July 24th Avenue, also with Nakatani Miki.

E.G.

Glad you found 'JIN' ... Well Osawa is very versatile. At times he looks younger and then depending on the role, he can look much older and very fierce. He is a fine actor and well regarded. I never can compare actors but he is certainly in the Abe Hiroshi line and Toshiaki also. He has done so many films and dramas which don't come our way and you have to search. He does stage plays and musicals. At the moment he is doing 'Phantom of the Opera' in Japan on stage. He has done Shakespeare in England.
One of my favourite characters is one in an MV with Ji Sub. He was a vicious gangster and although he loved the boy he rescued and brought up with him, the ending is very stark. It is just an MV to advertise a song but it is a little gem.
Called 'MY First' or 'Mr.Flower'. I really recommend it for appreciation of the actors in the piece. It's a song by Jo Sung Mo.

I would not say he was a great singer but he carries a tune and it is pleasant. Very brave to tackle the Phantom role I think.

I think he is very sensual and I love his face. Very full of expression and his speaking voice is most attractive. Yes E.G. I like him...

EG:

yes, Takao sings, but as Peggy said, his singing voice isn't that special, but isn't that bad at all. He has released some singles.
There's this episode of Ame Talk, (during Midnight Eagle promo), where Takeuchi Yuko gave him an electric guitar as a present, and the way he held and played the guitar blew me away LOL! it sounds silly but I love this man like crazy hehe

Yoshida Brothers' made their appearance on SmaSma on June 23rd, 2008. I've just watched RISING, wow!!!!! Yeah LOVE IT!!!

Peg:

I haven't had the chance to save it from youtube Shameful Cry Now I really have to wait for this to be uploaded on livejournal as I have made the request T__T

btw, have you watched the trailer of FLOWERS? he was wearing glasses there and OMG! I have weakness over gorgeous men with glasses hehe
I wonder if he really wears glasses, because I've seen him with glasses on while doing an interview

qnuy,

Hope that you can get that video again.. Fingers crossed

No have not seen the Flowers trailer. At least I saw something on the JapanTV channel tonight which gives me hope for something. There was a trailer or clip from the drama/film where he was at the fish market selling fish. At least I think that was the premise. Earlier I also saw a promo with big picture of Kimura for the drama Mr.Brain. Now I don't know if this means both of these are going to be shown on this TV channel because it was all in Japanese and went very fast. I was very surprised and all I noted was the number 24 for Kimura so that might be 24th April. I have to look out now to see each night around nine if I am going to have the pleasure of his company and maybe later with Osawa also. This is here in California but if they show things here, then maybe they also show at some time on JapanTV in other countries. This is a cable channel and I pay extra fee to get this channel.
I would not be surprised if Osawa wears glasses. Probably for reading don't you think? Surely not for effect...only BYJ does that . Shake Head

the title of the movie is The Taste of Fish. I watched it on the plane on my way to Jakarta from Narita. It's a nice movie, light and abit funny and as always, he looks gorgeous there Big Grin
There's a rumor that the second movie is going to be made.

I hope it will be shown at your place. The cable TV in my country has been airing quite a lot of Osawa's movies, too bad I haven't subscribed it.

Thanks for the info! Muack

Glad you loved "Rising"! Those dudes sure know how to rock a shamisen. It was my first music vid of the Yoshida Bros. and every time I watch it I feel like prostrating myself before the screen, sobbing "I am not wortheeeeeeee" lol. (Now, if the Yoshida Bros., Joe Hisaishi and Yo-Yo Ma did a collaboration, I would be in heaven. Nut )

Thanks for the Flowers trailer link! I didn't get what the story was about from the vignettes from the different time periods, but I was just so happy to recognize so many J-actors, lol.

Hehhheheheheh. Thats's just what I was thinking seeing Osawa Takao in glasses. I'd normally find the look extremely cute, but I dunno, I think Yonsama turned me off the guys-with-spectacles thing completely (if not scarred me for life, lol).

Peggy, the Mr. Flower MV plays like a little K-movie, doesn't it? (--and in that sense, rather predictable. Sweat) Was your heart so torn between So Ji-sub and Osawa? Would you have gone into the helicopter with him? hehe

Anyway. Osawa as THE Phantom of THE Opera? Hwowww. That's a big role requiring big vocal pipes. I looked for Youtube clips of his performance, but came up empty. I wonder what the reviews are saying. Anyway, that dude can serenade me with "Music of the Night" any time of the year. Naughty

E.G.

Being a Gemini there is a dichotomy about this...but...I'd be on the helicopter without a second thought. Hard hearted Hannah here.

Jisub is very attractive and getting moreso as he matures. However, he is so into his acting and rather a mystery as far as his personal emotional life is concerned. I think Osawa would be easier to be with no matter what he prefers in his love life. Dancing I like his style man. I think what you see is what you get with him. Muack

Now I am wondering if Osawa ever appeared on Bistro. I don't remember seeing him. It's a long time since I saw him in 'Ex-Lover' but he has done so many dramas and films that I would think he might have been on SMAP at some time.

I'm wondering the same thing now that you mention it Peg. I think JIN is his first drama after Ex Lover, he only did movies in between. Ex Lover was aired on TBS right? he wouldn't have been in SmaSma then.

I wonder if he's ever been to Utaban or waratte ii tomo too

I can't remember where I saw 'Ex Lover' on TV. It was really a long time ago. I have a copy somewhere but it isn't a DVD...it's one of those things you put in a VCR. I wish it could be on a DVD.

I am surprised that he has not done dramas between then and 'JIN'.

It's no wonder he is not more known outside of Japan. I guess he stays with his fame at home. Maybe JIN will break the mold and he will do more dramas and we will have more of him on TV.

Ex Lover was aired in 2001 so it's been 8 years. I watched it in vcd format, not in a good quality and with Malay sub.

the HQ version has been uploaded on livejournal and it's being subbed in English. I'm definitely downloading it once it's done. Takao Osawa is so HOT! HOT! HOT! there, and for God's sake, he was (still) 33 back then

I've just got great news. Goemon will be screen in the cinema here. I almost lost hope. It was said to be screened in early 2010, and it's April already. I sent them an email to ask about it but they said they didn't have the schedule. I've just their website and almost cried when I saw Goemon poster lol!

I'm gonna see Osawa on big screen! w00t!

qnuy.

I was just fluttering about Osawa in general and hoping you would be able to lead me to where the d.l will be on LJ with the subs.

I have to get down on my hands and knees and fish around in a cupboard for the Video. Then I have to remember how to use the VCR. My husband was the one who dealt with that and I used the DVD player.

I am watching RYOMADEN on TV on Sat. mornings. It has subs which is nice. Not entirely thrilled with this Ryoma. He is turning out to be a little too simple and gauche. Maybe he will change after this, the eighth episode.

oh, please send me the PM again Peg, I'm curious Big Grin

well, the subbing is still in process, but in case you want to download the RAW version please check your inbox ^^

I watched BALLAD yesterday with my friends. I bought it because there's Tsuyoshi and Osawa there, I just can't resist. I really love the scene where they fight. My heart was torn in two, Tsuyoshi and Osawa Nut
