i give an example, Erika Sawajiri, started as a gravure idol, with lots and lots of pix on her thread and elsewhere, but she has recently gave an outstanding performance in 1 litre of tears drama....and i think her career looks very good and promising now, same with Ayase Haruka in Sekai no Chuushin de. She started out as a gravure idol, and well, she is full figured...
I haven't followed either of their careers but I do agree with you on Sawajiri Erika - her performance in "1 Litre no Namida" was astounding. It's always nice to know there is some brains behind that ain't-I-cute look.

another japanese actress that i noticed recently was Tomoka Kurokawa, she was in Ame to Yume no Ato ni, and Teru Teru Ashita.
she is a good actress and it shows on the screen, and she is kawaii...
and another actress who is in Teru Teru Ashita also, is Ai Takabe....very nice

Kurokawa Tomoka did very well in her, albeit, minor role in "Ima, Ai ni Yukimasu". I'm following your advice and will start on "Ame to Yume no Ato ni" this weekend. However I don't think Kurokawa Tomoka was/is a member of the gravure-species, is she?

hmmm, i highly doubt Tomoka is among the gravure idols...
but i know for a fact that Ai Takabe is a gravure idol, and actress.
also, both young actresses were in the last season's Gachibaka school drama.
Really? I got "Gachibaka" stacked up on the shelf. Maybe I'll put that on top of my 'to-watch' list.
like Teru Teru Ashita....Gachibaka got low ratings...
personally i am biased since i really like both actresses a lot, but actually Gachibaka was just ok....but worth watching once or maybe twice...
Teru Teru Ashita, i recommend it, and it is sub'd. I started a thread on Tomoka, and on Teru Teru Ashita, but others don't seem interested in it..
i need to post more pix and scn caps...

I'm taking your advice and now in the process of acquiring "Teru Teru Ashita".
Kurokawa Tomoka is not the glamourous type, hence the seemingly lack of interest. Nevertheless I'm sure interest in her will pick up when more of her work is released.
I think we all just do what we like. Look at this thread - less than 10 persons have posted to date. I'm enjoying myself posting screen caps and really not too worried if no one else speaks a word.

cool, enjoy Teru Teru Ashita...there are eng subs for that, and i think they are up to ep4 or 5 now...in subs.
yeah Tomoka is defintely not the glamorous type, but she is really cute, and acts quite well for her age.
well, i will frequent this thread, as i like Juri also.
there are about 5 or more artiste threads that i started and I interact with maybe close to a dozen different ones in the artiste section...

From "Yahoo News"
Ms. Ueno shall be featured in a new movie "Rainbow Song" to be produced by Iwai Shunji (of "Love Letter", "Hana and Alice" fame). Ms. Ueno will be working alongside Ichihara Hayato, Sakai Wakana, and Tanaka Kei.
(More on this new movie when I can find additional news coverage, and a intensive course in the Japanese language.)

Nice screen caps. I just discovered Juri in swing girls, I then watched orange days and tsubasa... She is quickly becoming a very good actress. I hope to see more of her acting.
