Popular scenario writer, Yamaguchi Osamu (Inagaki Goro) is currently dating fashion magazine model Ebihara Yumi (Ebihara Yuri). With a high salary and a beautiful girlfriend, one would expect Osamu to be the envy of all around him. Yet there is something missing in his life. On the complete other end of the spectrum, 25 year old Ota Miyuki (Murakami Tomoko) works part-time at a Ramen restaurant while trying to fulfill her dreams of becoming an actress. Though her parents may have named her Miyuki with the intentions of her being beautiful and happy, the reality is she is ugly. Ugly enough for her parents to worry over her future. Miyuki herself, though she hates it, is also quite aware of this fact. This is where Osamu and Miyuki meet. Shocked by Miyuki's pure and fresh personality, he is drawn to her, but...
Minna, this dorama's first episode reached 19.9% in rating. The story itself is quite original, not the ordinary "prince charming with beautiful peasant", but "prince charming with busu peasant".

From the synopsis & 1st episode doesn't Sound too original. Kind of like a mild version of Beauty & the Beast. There are tons of stories involving prince/princess charmings choosing personality over beauty in their mates. On another note, the main girl is ugly but her sisters are beautiful. Kind of fun to watch so let's hope the screenwriter put an interesting spin on this age-old theme.

Though it may not sound original, this is actually based on scritpwriter, Suzuki Osamu's courtship with his wife, Oshima Miyuki from the comedy group Morisanchuu. Suzuki is the scriptwriter behind the success of SMAPxSMAP and some more variety programs, while Oshima is really, on the plump side as all three Morisanchuu's members are. _________________

It sounds promising. Will be interesting to see how this drama develops.
*possible spoilers*
From Japan Times:
Tomoko Murakami, one-third of the comedy group Morisanchu, was also selected for her looks to play the lead character in the new drama series, "Busu no Hitomi ni Koishite" (Fuji TV , Tuesday, 10 p.m.), but since the title translates as "In Love With the Eyes of an Ugly Girl," it would be understandable if she were less than completely thrilled.
Miyuki (Murakami) is an actress who would prefer roles in straight dramas, but because of her chubby appearance and natural sense of humor she tends to get offers for other types of work. Handsome TV writer Osamu (SMAP's Goro Inagaki) is desperate to get her to become a regular on a comedy show he's putting together. She isn't completely enthusiastic, but so far she hasn't managed to land a dramatic part. However, in episode two, which airs this week, she manages to pass the first-round audition for a TV series.
Hmmm......looking at the reviews and synopsis of this drama, it reminds me of the kdrama My Name is Kim Sam-Soon. Same plot I must say, a cool guy falling in love to a fat and not so good-looking lady. I'll have to check this one to see the difference among the two . _________________

Maybe, or maybe not. This is after all, based on Suzuki Osamu's essays on his real marriage life. Don't you think that the lead actress in Sam Soon can be quite attractive? Well, compared to, erm, Murakami. _________________

Sam-Soon definitely have the looks compared to Murakami. I even heard that the actress who portrayed Kim Sam-Soon isn't that fat before she made that kdrama, but was forced to do so because it is needed for her role . As for Tomoko Murakami's case, well, let's just say that she's naturally like that . _________________

How about MIYU's Beautiful Mind? I like that song, too^^
Was a bit disappointed with the first episode...it was not as funny as I thought it would be^^ But the 2nd ep pick up enough...I love the part where Osamu keep peeking thru the ramen shop's window evryday, looking for Miyuki like a stalker^^
Ebihara Yuri is as pretty as a doll, but her character here is nothing more than a doll, indeed xD I thought she'd be an important role. Turn out, the important one is Osamu's ex-girlfriend (played by Igawa Haruka) ne...I like her^^
Has anyone read the book? I wonder if Suzuki Osamu's meeting with Miyuki was really like that...lol!
Oh, a cool parody of Unfair, acted by Yun Son Na!^^
And is ZBATxZBAT, suppose to be = SMAPxSMAP???? _________________

He used to write for SMAPxSMAP, so probably yes.
MIYU, I can't find it in any record website or any shopping site... But dorama songs are usually released in the middle of the season.
There's rumor that MIYU is Morisanchuu's Oojima Miyuki, the wife of real Osamu, but it kind of sounds professional... And it doesn't sound like ZONE's MIYU either.
I like Osamu's ex. That girl was SOOO nice to him, and (we assume,) Osamu just dumped her when he got famous, what a bastard!!
