Just read the news that Kimura Takuya will star in "Space Battleship Yamato" live-action movie, with Sawajiri Erika as the lead actress. This is not officially announced yet, but those close to the project says almost certain.
The anime series is one of the most well-known classic Japanese animes, and a new "revival" anime series will be broadcasted in December.
Sawajiri Erika is an extremely inconsistent actress in my opinion, but I hope it goes well. This is her first confirmed movie since suspension for "Closed Note".

Just read that the manager of Takuya Kimura has turned down this actress Erika for the leading lady role. No reason given. Another actress was mentioned, I forget her name but she has acted with Kimura before.

I can't remember which site I was on when I read about the casting for the next Kimura san film/drama. It was one of the fan sites I am sure. Anyway.. I do remember that the latest actress mentioned is the one who just played opposite him in 'MR BRAIN' ? Ayase?
Forgive my memory lapse here. It will all come out in the wash in the end.....
I doubt that Kimura would make any remarks about any choices except in a very private conversation with his manager.
Just my own thoughts. He is pretty smart about publicity.

Fuji TV are putting actor and SMAP member Kimura Takuya back where his legions of female fans want him. He will star in a yet-to-be-named drama series in the network's golden time slot, Monday 9pm, from April. Fuji haven't revealed much about the show other than that the drama will be KimuTaku's first full-on romance drama in 10 years, and that he will play a company president for the first time. No doubt Fuji will be hoping for the kind of huge success that rivals TBS enjoyed with the 2000 series "Beautiful Life." That show, with KimuTaku's hairstylist falling for Tokiwa Takako, as a wheelchair-bound librarian, had a massive audience rating of 41.3%.
Fuji last bet the bank on Kimura in their spring 2008 series "Change," in which he played a schoolteacher who suddenly finds himself Prime Minister of Japan. But the show was only a modest success and lost out in the ratings to the popularity of actress Nakama Yukie in NTV's "Gokusen." The key to the new drama will be the actress chosen to play opposite Kimura.

I don't think so unless she is playing a role other than romantic. They don't have good vibes in my opinion. Also I don't think it is definite that Li Ling will be in the drama. I hope she won't as it will not make for good promotion. that's just my own opinion.
I would like to see Kimura san play in a romantic drama with the Korean star Kim Ha Neul. She is a lovely actress and can be very glamorous or very restrained. I think they would make a very interesting duo. Wish someone would tell JE or the SMAP staff if they read this.

Takuya Kimura's "Moon Lovers" co-stars revealed
More details about Takuya Kimura's upcoming drama series were revealed on Tuesday. Titled "Tsuki no Koibito ~Moon Lovers~," the drama will air in Fuji TV's Monday 9:00pm time slot this spring, though the starting broadcast date has not yet been determined.
As reported earlier this month, the drama has Kimura (37) playing the president of an interior design company. It is described as his first real romance series since "Beautiful Life" in 2000, but he will have not one, but three female co-stars.
Leading the list of actresses is Ryoko Shinohara (36), cast as a capable interior designer who works with Kimura. The complicated relationship between the two characters goes back to their days as students together. Kimura and Shinohara previously acted together in the 1997 series "Gift."
Next is Taiwanese star Lin Chi-ling (35), who appeared in the "Red Cliff" movies. This will be her first time in a Japanese drama. She plays a Chinese woman whom Kimura encounters.
The third love interest is played by Keiko Kitagawa (23), portraying a popular model who comes from a wealthy family.
Another key member of the cast is actor Shota Matsuda (24). He plays one of Kimura's subordinates who seems to be obedient, but secretly has his own ambitions. However, he also becomes entangled in the five-way romance. His role reportedly has him speaking fluently in Chinese.

E.G.
You must watch it soon. I had a hard time finding it when I wanted to watch. I loved it. I really liked seeing Kimura riding his bicycle through the streets wearing beautiful Italian suits and his long hair tied back. His very long hair tied tightly back. He has the most beautiful face here and very reminiscent of American Indian faces. You will see. Strange story but worth cultivating with some attention.

Peg.
Hi babe.
Maybe Kimura did have a "look ma, I'm Native American!" phase in his youth, back when his hair was long and lustrous. Didn't he spend a summer with some tribe and they even adopted him or something? I wonder if he still touches base with his, uh, totem brothers? lol
I think it was autumn1 or ai* who didn't like GIFT. I just know there's murder and amnesia involved, but beyond that I've been careful not to read too much about the plot.
Peggy, I finally got to watch KAREI.

Gawwwwwwd that was depressing.
I want to read the novel SO BADLY. If only someone would sub -- er, translate the dang book. If it were something written by Haruki Murakami, it'd be easy to find a copy in English. Dayumm.
