I think his best was Sora Kara Furu Ichioku no Hoshi too...
Loved his role as a complete jerk towards women... lol
I found him a little bit mysterious and scary too... Put it this way, I wouldn't want to meet Katase Ryo alone in a back street in the middle of the night.. _________________

I liked him in Love Generation and Long Vacation. For some reason he does jerk roles really well but I still like him every time (I found his character in LG to be a jerk at first). But in LV he played a seemingly timid type.....but a really lovable one. His role as Sena, to me, was kinda rare for him. His role in Asunaro Hakusho as Osamu (?) was timid, but really dorky. I didn't really root for his character in that one.

(IMO) Probably 'cause he doesn't match that "jerk type" roles, which is why he does them so well. Dude is trying to break out of his bubble gum shell!!! _________________

I think Kimura was a jerk in LG cause Matsu Takako was kinda bitchy towards him too...
In Sora Kara he was fooling around with 3 women all at the same time... great stuff.. _________________

I don't knock any of his roles, but in Sora Kara he was so mysterious and sexy.....you don't wanna know what I was yelling at the screen I tend to yell my opinions at the screen when watching dramas. If a guy is hot, I yell....um, various things. If something frustrating happens, I yell and beat pillows. If something good happens, I cheer. I'm never a quiet audience.
Right now I'm watching the last ep of Attic Cat, and I've been yelling some dirty things to Kim Rae-won Sheezus, so many beautiful men in the Asian drama scene.... Pleasing yet frustrating!

I usually find myself on the "laughing at the origins of the nickname 'Kimutaku'" end when it comes to Kimura Takuya.
But, if there's one performance Kimura should be commended on (in The Man's book), it's his role as Shuji in Beautiful Life, AKA Futari De Ita Hibi. You can tell he cared about this show; one of the few J-drama performances I can admit with a straight face that every second of his acting was incredibly meaningful, or powerful. I like how his character follows his heart.
The part in the last show where he (and I'm not EVEN gonna give a big, bolded, smiley face-megaphoned "spoiler" tag) goes into the room, to aestheticize Kyoko's body (Tokiwa Takako, as you know; also, in a notable performance). I don't mean to state the obvious, but those are REAL non "thank you for this award" tears that you wouldn't expect from a . . . from a Johnny's Jr. Kimura's drawing from something inside his own soul to help project that powerful scene. And, while The Man finds no 'cause to cry for any TV show or movie, Kimura's tears engulf you into a final contemplation of the personal struggles of the woman that he ultimately embraced and respected. You almost wanted to call him (the character I mean; if I ended up calling Kimutaku, first thing I'd ask him is, "the heck you can't stand 'bout 'Kimutaku'; I bet the nickname's earned you hundreds of thousands in marketing ploys alone?!") and say, "hey, man, it's OK . . . you ever need someone to talk to . . ." I know it sounds dorky, but, ya'll's know what I mean.
Almost no trace of his SMAPness in this show.
The show itself is great. Dynamic, daring. And I can't see any other acteurs playing the characters in Beautful Life and so, I hope the series is never re-made into another series or movie.
Also . . . isn't Kimutaku the Japanese detective in the movie Seoul?

Wow!!! I have to admit that that was what I thought but couldn't type! (Actually, too lazy to type out)
Great revealation there, The Man! (No wonder that's your username) _________________
sora kara, Beautiful Life and Sleeping Forest are the ones I choose...haven't seen the other ones yet to compare :p
Didn't care for the ending of Beautiful Life, though, since they never really explained why the girl would die of her ailment...unless I wasn't paying attention at the time :p
