For anyone reading these post, I would still suggest to watch these dramas. The simple reason is that not evry one has the same liking and you may miss someting great because somebody didnt like it.

For exemple, I was pretty surprised to see lot of people say that they didnt like SOS, but personaly, I liked it a lot =)

Review can be good, but they arent in function of your personal liking =)

I have not seen a drama I have not liked yet. I was dissapointed in the GTO Movie. I love the series, and the special but I felt the movie lacked the heart and energy of the earlier episodes.

Big Wing and Otousan I found were very boring I hate those wishy-washy, family values, good person helping everyone type shows.

Yamato Nadeshiko was on the borderline. Didn't interest me too much. I continued to watch it only b/c of Yada Akiko.

I didn't like To Heart very much. I can't stand her cyring "Tokieeeedaa Yuuuujiiiii" all the time. I think that was annoying...IMO

Love Complex is ... well do you know Quentin Tarantino movies? Love Complex is like one. It's not about the story but about cool camera moves&cuts and about weird characters. Love complex is just "special"

i'd just like to jump in and say, Long Love Letter is not worth watching, even tho it has yosuke and yamaP in it, it's just soo....boring.....

here's what I've found boring but stuck through it:

Hero (like torture getting through this one)
Big Wing
Otousan
Virgin Road
Tabloid
Brand
SOS (though I did enjoy the first episode or two after awhile it lost its appeal)
Yamato Nadeshiko
Beauty or Beast (...only seen a few episodes but I'm not liking it already. Hope it picks up.)

Here's new jdoramas to avoide: (look for my post on the thread for the 1st 6)

7) Big Wing. Very, very boring. I put an episode on, lie down and fall asleep immediately. Reminds me a lot of Pretty Girls, which is not a good thing. IMO, I have yet to see a good drama in the GTO genre with a female lead, ie new character comes into a profession shakes things up and is hated by everyone.

8) Kochira Daisan Shakaibu (Local News Section 3) Haphazard writing and no payoff at the end. Lots of unfinished plotlines.

It seems from this thread that jdrama fans have various tastes in dramas. I'd advice people to try the dramas themselves if they're downloading or ask for more specific reasons why ppl think the dramas suck. Some dramas in this thread which I think are watchable:

1) Yamato Nadeshiko: If you don't like shows which have a character acting 'extreme', ie unlike what most ppl would do, then you may not like it. However, I find it an interesting parody about materialistic women. It has great acting, killer theme song and Matsushima Nanako + Akiko yada. Last episode is draggy but on the whole highly recommended.

2) SOS: Not a very good drama but definitely watchable. Can't remember much cause it was a long time ago. The sister complex thing might be a turn off for some ppl.

3) Otousan: Very boring first 5 episodes but picks after on the 2nd half. Still does not compare to Oyaji though. Not as bad as other dramas I forced myself to watch through. If you don't enjoy family shows then stay away.

4) Beauty or Beast: Very good writing and acting. Jdramas with the focus on an occupation rather than a love story are usually written badly (Hero, Kochira Daisan Shakaibu). Beauty or beast spend time to flesh out the characters and made me like them. Highly recommended.

I liked Oyaji better too, Otousan had such a great cast, but I didn't see the chemistry with the girls.

I liked Otousan but not as much as Oyaji

1. High School Teacher (even though it has Naohito Fujiki but the drama is just too slow and boring)..I fell asleep, I even found my ironing chores to be far more interesting than watching this drama

2. Otousan- double boring...so, so slow family drama;

3. Home and Away ..too too annoying (Kaede character is just too dumb);

4. Golden Bowl - Sorry guys I've seen too many kuroki hitomi with younger guys..(first No Lover now this..and then there's going to be another one with Kenji Sakaguchi...) plus..Takeshi Kaneshiro is not worth it to be in this plain boring drama about bowling this and bowling that.

5. Big Wing...Yuki Uchida acting dumb

6. Merry Christmas in the Summer...What's wrong with Miki? acting dumb and Yutaka..acting Stupid?..boring..

7. SOS..I was calling sos myself to escape from this drama..

8. Fighting Girl..can't stand the storyline..and yoon son ha..was trying so hard to be cute plus..Fukakyon..don't ever dye your hair blonde again.

9. Great Teacher Naomi..speechless..trying too much to be GTO

10. With Love...only like the soundtrack and forget about watching this boring love story...don't waste your time.

wish i read the stupid reviews of Otousan more .. i can't believe i wasted, bandwidth and time watching the series.

maybe nipple slips woulda made it better.

Couldn't agree more.....you just had to be patient....first few episodes were soo boring.

omgosh, what's wrong with SOS? why does everyone dislike it? it actually got better after like episode 5. i liked the whole theme, go SOS! ;p

Corrections:
Love Complex is an excellent drama, it is the most unique one in existence. For those of you who didn't like it, most likely you just don't understand what it is about (it is definitely not the mushy love drama you are seeking). And! Shomuni is very funny and is worth watching.

Dramas to avoid:
Sanshimai tanteiban (Horrible beyond belief)
Okuman chouja to kekkon suru houhou [�������҂ƌ���������@] (except the first episode)
Gift [�M�t�g] (even Himura Takuya can't save the mediocore story)
Beauty 7 [�r���[�e�B�V] (watch only if you want beauty tips, there is no plot here)

Love complex is one of a kind..I like it. Shomuni is hilarious..(I like OL comedy).

I can't believe you've seen Beauty 7 too..hehehehe It's funny but yes..I agree there's no plot there except beauty tips..

Guys..don't ever watch "First Love" ..great actors (fukakyon, Wakui Emi, Watabe Atsuro) but BOORRRIIIING they can't save story it's too flat.

No wonder why I haven't really heard of many of these dramas that supposedly "suck".


I haven't seen a bad drama yet, since I have only watched a few but the worst out of the bunch is "Beach wars mix". It's not terrible, but kind of mediocre if you ask me. If you really can't stand the beach setting all the time and the Nato jokes, then don't get it. While the characters grow on you, the storyline seems to lack depth and urgency and doesn't entirely make much sense.


Some dramas start out slow, but get better later on anyways. I know a few like that.

the characters are very annoying in this one.
