Based on a hit manga, this adaptation depicts the life of a married man Nanase Kohei after he returned to his former job as a male host. However, the transition back for this middle-aged man is not without its challenges. Afraid that his wife will find out about this job, Nanase is also garnering jealousy and displeasure from the younger hosts. Throughout the course of his employment, he demonstrates to others that hosting should not be the vulgar occupation it has become where the entire goal is to make the women frivolously spend money, rather, it is about a human connection that is so often overlooked.

After watching 3 episodes, I might be ready to give it a 7. Kaze no Garden is a letdown; on top of that,I didn't quite fancy most of the dramas this year. So this show is a breath of fresh air.

The casting surprises me. (1)This must be Sasaki Kuranosuke's golden year. Kind of risky to cast him as a lady-killer although he can look like an affectionate father. I thought there are others who have more charisma than him. (2)Great to see Maya Miki again as supporting cast although I'm seeing her appearing the upteenth time this year ?? (3)Hara Sachie had so little spoken lines......???

If anybody enjoys "Kurokawa no techou", you would enjoy this "Ginza+Sleeze+Mamasan+Double-crossing" stuff.

I thought this year has been much better than 2007, you've got Seigi no Mikata, Muri na Renai, Ashita no Kita, , ,, Daisuki, the big disappointment this year was Prisoner of crap er, um, I mean Last Friends

Thanks gaijinmark for your recommendations. Sometimes it's the cast, rather than the story that drove me away.

I didn't notice Muri na Renai - looks like a good one.

By the way. the Giragira alpha males actually have very interesting cheers for toasting the occasions !.....slightly better than Yaoh.

I haven't heard of or seen Yaoh yet...
personally i didn't think Jotei wasn't bad, but by no means did i consider it to be great material, it was ok...i thought Rosa Kato did a fine job in acting though.

Giragira, however, i find very entertaining and the acting is good. The main actor is good and the storyline is intriguing and this one has some depth to it. The ending song is really good, by the music group "Girl Next Door".[/b]
