I watched the Death Note movie while I was in Japan about a month ago. I had already read the full manga series, so I knew the plotline etc. The movie follows the manga up until the last 1/3, then it starts it's own spinoff. Also, there is a presence of Yagami Light's girlfriend in the movie, which is basically non-existant in the manga. However, one thing this movie gets is the cute Toda Erika, she plays Amane Misa. Although her story is not told much, you see a few appearances and some building of her involvement in Death Note 2. Once again, for Erika Toda! Overall, I'd only give the Death Note movie a 6/7 out of 10.

yeah, i've been looking around the usual places for a torrent of this with eng/chinese subs and i can't seem to find a single one... Head Scratch

am i missing something here?

I saw it when it first came out, I think it's really good. Well-made. The computer graphics they use for the shinigami is great, not cheesy at all. I've only read the first two books of the manga, so I don't know about how closely it follows the story. But I'm really looking forward to part 2. I heard it's 3 parts. Is that true? Or is it just going to be 2 parts?

yeah.toda erika rocks.reallie love her!so looking forward to OCT 19.can see my beloved toda erika.hahas.and btw,shes the main character in the second movie part.i think.shud be correct.YAYS.and shes acting with koki tanaka and kame from kat-tun,in this new show.wonder if anyone has an info on that?i mean like what roles they play,esp erika of course.HAHA.thanks and yes,DEATH NOTE ROCKS.seen the manga.=)

I went and watched this movie last Sunday... it was very nice, and "L" is so cute he's like a drug addict one and Light is so smart that I cant predict which ways he would use to kill a person... A very good movie, indeed Tatsuya looks quite old now, anyway
