"DEATH NOTE" spin-off with L as the main character
The big hit two-part "DEATH NOTE" is still going strong in theaters, with its second part "the Last name" keeps the top box office position for the 4th week. So, of course the studio wants to milk more money out of it while it is still hot. They just announced the spin-off movie, and this time the eccentric detective "L" played by Kenichi Matsuyama is going to be the leading role.
"L" is the world famous genius detective, but his real name is hidden and his appearance is quite eccentric, and Matsuyama's act as "L" has won big enthusiastic support. Matsuyama says, "I thought I did everything I could by the second part, but after 3 months, I started to feel that maybe I could do something more."
Any other details, including the plot and relationships with the original leading character Light Yagami is not decided. They are planning the release in 2008.

Dude, it's hard to take the Police Chief, Soichiro Yagami (Light's father) father seriously....when you know his ass is Japan's version of Liberace, that is to say the M.C. from Iron Chef....it's the same guy!
I'm just waiting for him to bite a bell pepper and do a gay dance with some fruity clothes on....

Is it really? I haven't seen the movie yet
i'm just being a wise ass...but yeah it really is him...you'll recognize him instantly....actually he plays the part of Soichiro Yagami quite well. I finally saw the film in its entirety...the torrent that Krim provided was a hardsubbed High Quality Rip that was way better than the Saiyaman version and other versions out there....my only complaint is they made the subs way too freikin' small but other than that it was great...the translation was much much better too...no need to fiddle with the soft subs...

Yeah i've heard he's actually a decent actor. Hmm, i'll have to burn it to DVD for viewing soon
one word of caution...if you're watching the anime which i am....if you watch the film FIRST you will be subjecting yourself to spoilers.....i watched the first 10 episodes of the anime first before watching the film so I wouldn't spoil anything for myself.
I watched it too. Matsuyama and Fujiwara Tatsuya are acting great! I can't wait to watch the second part. I hope I can download it soon. I love this movie + I'm reading the manga too. _________________
