I heard itLs like impossible to acquire Japanese citizenship. ILve heard that you can work and can live there, but you will alwayLs need some kind of visa and you will alwayLs need work (which will also be your guarantor) and thus you can never become a Japanese citizen....

IIRC, you can't have 2 citizenships in Japan. (I'm like 5% sure though Sweat) You need to drop one, if you want to live there. (Keep the Japanese one) Not something most people would want to do.

Does Becky count as a foreigner? Head Scratch

Now, regarding dual citizenship, Japan does not allow dual citizenship, and requires an individual to rescind their original citizenship upon becoming a Japanese national. Several countries recognize this by having an official policy of simply NEVER PROCESSING the final parts of denying your birth citizenship. That way a (say for instance) person born in Canada can become Japanese and file all the necessary documents, but the Canadian authorities will simply never process your papers. Then you file the necessary "in process" documents and get your J citizenship. And remain Canadian, just in case

i'd have kept my dial citizenship, except that had I gone back to taiwan i'd have to do the mandatory 2 yr stint in the military, which would have sucked since i can't speak taiwanese, and can barely read.
