I'm just saying, every shot: on the street, at their job, at home, at a park, beside a building, every single shot- has someone smoking or drinking- kinda feel uneasy about that

(HEALTH CARE!)

Sigh! I dunno what to say about this dorama- I thought it would be amazing like Orange Days was (same writer)- but it was not! I wanted more. Actors were good, but the later parts were rushed.

Maybe it was the youtube quality! haha

i guess i'm one of the few that liked it? (*laughs*) not the BEST drama but one i rather enjoyed

i downloaded the whole series a few days ago and just finished watching. i'm glad it wasn't another "oh no he/she is sick and let's focus entirely on that" type series; sure she's sick but i'm glad it doesn't really affect the storyline at all. i didn't really like kamenashi kazuya before but after seeing him in nobuta wo produce and suppli and now after seeing him in this, i like him a lot.

and i haven't seen a drama with ayase haruka since sekai chuushin de, ai wo sakebu, so it was great to see her again.

there were some parts that i found rushed, but for the most part i really liked this drama. probably because i was expecting it to over-emphasize her illness and have her die in the end, but it didn't turn out that way. and i'm a little glad actually that the ending was NOT particularly special; it was happy (which is what we all wanted), but why should it be special? i'm tired of dramas where there are huge "let's propose on a boat with fireworks and the circus" finales; i'm glad it was simple but sweet.

and about the drinking and smoking.... i assume you didn't know that that's perfectly acceptable in japan? practically EVERYONE smokes there (especially males), it's not considered to be a bad thing like it is in the states....

Problem is that it IS a bad thing.... And anyone thinking otherwise is clearly mistaken.

no need to lecture; i didn't disagree. i'm against smoking and i practically choke whenever i breathe in second-hand smoke and i'm hella glad there is a smoking ban here in my hometown (austin, tx) so i can enjoy clubs smoke-free.

however, i understand that it's not looked down upon in japan so it didn't bother me that much when i was watching. i just said it was something to consider when watching

if you watch any doramas that aired in the mid to late 90s you'll notice that most of the male characters smoke...

yeah i think japan has one of the highest rates of smoking among the industrialized democracies...yeah everybody does smoke there...when i went there i confirmed that.

i've heard similar criticisms about this drama...despite the fact that eriko kitiagawa wrote the screenplay. it seems that many ppl agree this was her least well-received drama when you compare it to her other work: Long Vacation, Beautiful Life, Overtime, Orange Days.

I wonder if their lung cancer rate has gone up over the last couple of decades... Or has the green tea consumption offset that. Sweat

the lastest spate of articles that i read seem to suggest that the japan still has one of the lowest rates of lung cancer notwithstanding the numerous smokers there...it seems that it can be attributed to green tea consumption (among other dietary habits i'm sure)...i'm sure it's the prevalance of the disease is trending upward but it's still far below that of the US.

having said that....i haven't seen this dorama yet but i have noticed that dramas that have aired in the past couple of years seem to feature characters that smoke less than characters in dramas that are, let's say, 10 years old.

Good to know: seems like Japan's coming around on the smoking issue. Victory! Peace!

I know that they had banned smoking ads on F1 cars and race venues for over a decade now. *pointless info* Beaten

it seems so, at least in the entertainment world.

Tatta Hitotsu No Koi should have ended in episode 9 at 22:35! First Dorama I didn't enjoy x_X;. Most of the characters are really annoying especially Nao. Crying in every episode and not being able to make a decision is annoying. And there's much unrealistic stuff. And the ending isn't something special and just boring.

What's the point in knowing how it will end?

If that's the case, there's no point in watching the drama... Shake Head
