If you watch the SP which is shown before first episode the actors explained abit about the instrument playing part.
Since Tamaki Hiroshi aka Chiaki is a singer as well (he can play guitar) maybe he can pick it up easily.
I think they put alot of effort to make the instrument playing part as real as possible, especially during the orcestra performances, well since most of the members are real music students. Unlike some taiwanese drama....... those scenes totally ruined it.
Just watched Ep.5, even you dont understand japanese at all u still can have fun watching it, alot of music playing this episode
ooooooooooh i cant wait for episodes 4-5 then. ive only watched through 3. i really like how nodame can actually play the piano. and chiaki playing the violin too.
its really funny/cute too. ^^ and chiaki's character gets hotter to me by the episode...
and i AGREE about the taiwanese dramas, cuz i watched MG2 and OHGOSH the cello/violin parts just killed the whole show for me!!!! _________________
I just catch up with this tv show before the episode on air next monday.
I dont know this manga is very famous...
This original manga is be serialized on "Kiss" ( magazine is published every 10th and 25th monthly ) and now published as 30 comic books. But I never read them.
Main readers of "Kiss" is twentysomething women and about 50 percent of Convenient stores in Japan has stocks... I guess manga of Nodame Cantabile has the aspect that traditionally appears in shoujo-manga for teenagers strongly. Character like Nodame has been one of the orthodox character over these several decades of years in shoujo manga like my sister had read... This manga seems to win some prize but I am not interested in it now. ( But it is easy to read 30 comic books in Manga kissa in one night at Tokyo. Then I may do that ... )
I guess this dorama is interesting because some parts of this dorama are made and prepared very 'seriously' in a sense, as it could be possible. In the result of that, pleasure of dorama seems to be caused by the pleasure of classic music itselves incongruously for me. Actually classic music played in this dorama is pleasant for me. ( I dont have enough knowledge of classic music. )

Nodame: From manga to TV to cafe
Shoji Ichihara / Yomiuri Shimbun Staff Writer
A restaurant in Harajuku, Tokyo, has opened a temporary cafe to tie in with Fuji TV's drama series, Nodame Kantabire (Mondays, 9 p.m.), re-creating the heroine's messy room and serving special dishes that appear in the series.
The TV drama is based on a manga series of the same title, which features an aspiring pianist studying at a music college.
Cafe de Nodame, adopting the heroine's nickname, which is a shortened form of Noda Megumi, has been set up at Tribeca restaurant in the b6 building in Harajuku.
Its highlight is "Nodame Beya," a room carefully recreated to look just like the lead character's messy room as seen in the drama.
From the show, we know that Nodame is talented as a pianist, but is terrible at keeping rooms clean. So her "room" is crammed full of stuffed garbage bags, cardboard boxes and other items.
The temporary cafe has a special menu that re-creates the dishes seen in the drama and the original manga series, including Nodame's cream stew.
Events for classical music fans have also been organized. On Mondays, some members from the "Nodame Orchestra," specially formed for the TV drama, give performances at the restaurant.
"I think both the original manga and TV drama have helped change the image that the world of classical music is a hard one for people to enter," said Rina Odera, a violinist of the orchestra. "As orchestra members, we want to do our best to convey to people the joy of classical music."
A team of Fuji TV employees came up with the idea of opening the cafe in July. The team, which is in charge of special campaigns to promote the TV series, comprises staffers who consider themselves to be original fans of the comic book series.
The team members asked about 100 eating and drinking establishments in Tokyo for cooperation. Tribeca official Junko Noda readily agreed, saying it would be an exciting project providing stimulation for the program, its viewers and the restaurant.
Attending the cafe's opening ceremony, actress Juri Ueno, who plays Nodame, told reporters: "I'm so happy that this cool cafe has opened. I'd like to come again and try out the menu for myself."
The cafe will operate in its current form until Dec. 25.

This is the Cafe Tribeca, in which members of the Rising Star Oke held their first gathering. I didn't know the owner's name was also Noda - must be very endearing for him to put Nodame's room in his cafe.
Here are some photos of the cafe I grabbed from another forum:
(The TV was showing an episode of "Puruin Gorota", Nodame's favourite anime).

Hi
sorry to bother. I'm heading to Japan next week so hope to be able to see the cafe
but the write up does not say where it is
thtl : do you knoe?
The Tribeca Cafe is located in Harajuku. Here is a map of the location:
You can get there by taking the JR train to the Harajuku station, or the underground train (Chiyoda line) to the Meiji Jinguu Mae station. The cafe is located on the b1 (underground) floor of the 'b6 Building'.
Actually the easiest way is to take the damn taxi and show the driver your map. Remember only Monday night is "Nodame Night" when they have live performance as well as Nodame memorabilia.
