Must-see for Tamaki Hiroshi fans!

Tada, Kimi wo Aishiteru AKA Heavenly Forest (2006)
Starring Tamaki Hiroshi (Nodame Cantabile), Miyazaki Aoi (NANA)

I just finished subbing this movie couple of days ago!

You can also get video + sub from FSC or FSS and kLOOFy.net if you are registered.

Synopsis

On the day of his university entrance ceremony, shutterbug Makoto (Tamaki) meets a fresh-faced, quirky girl named Shizuru (Miyazaki). He has a complex which causes him to shy away from contact with other people, but she succeeds in getting him to open up to her naturally. All Shizuru wants is to be with Makoto, so she takes up a camera too. The two spend their days together taking photos in the forest behind the campus. However, Makoto has feelings for another student named Miyuki (Kuroki Meisa). Shizuru decides that if Makoto likes Miyuki, she wants to like her too. She wants to like everything that he does. One day, she tells Makoto that she wants to take a photo of them kissing in the forest for a competition. He obliges for her sake, and they kiss in the forest for the first time. However, from that day on, Shizuru disappears from Makato's life...

I just watched episode 11 of the anime (the RAW, C!ANIME is still stuck at episode 6). This is the episode where Chiaki performed the Rachmaninoff with the A-Oke.

The recording used is the same as in the LA, although they allowed nearly 10 minutes of the first movement, but cutting out the little bit of the last movement that we saw in the LA.

Watching this episode remind me of the things I'm not satisfied with the anime (as opposed to the LA):

- The environment settings (school ground, school's piano room, Chiaki's room etc.) was too sparse. In the LA everything felt like it was being used/occupied. In the anime there is too much empty space.

- The characters' facial expressions are no where near as interesting as in the LA. I supposed in an animation you have to exaggerate to convey the message.

- I like the way the LA moved things around a bit to make it more dramatic. For instance in the LA it was at the end of the last movement that Chiaki thought he wanted to learn more from Stresemann, but in the LA it was in the first half of the first movement. While the anime was probably more accurately reproducing the manga, the LA's scenario made more sense to me.

From your observations, it seems pretty clear that the Live Action Nodame is better, if not superior to the anime... Victory! Peace!

My admiration for Ms. Ueno aside, I think the LA certainly made the story come to life. The animation is more of a narrative of the manga.

I'm certainly no manga expert, and know preciously little about animes. However I felt the Nodame anime has been too focused on the individual characters, making the surrounding look like an empty void. I'm sure this is not characteristic of all animes - Doraemon did not give me the same feeling at all.

I haven't seen the anime, but I can't imagine them being better than the live action, thanks to the performances of the entire cast, particularly Ueno Juri and Tamaki Hiroshi. Those two have completely embodied the characters and made them their own. Thumbsup

i've watched quite a few animes and nodame anime is just not up to standard. it's produced by j.c. staff who churned out honey & clover and karin, both which have nice colours, beautiful backgrounds and great animation. furthermore once you've watched the live action, nothing can beat it Mr Green

When I get my hands on the official DVD-set, I'll rip them onto my HD again. At the same time I'll probably try my hands on re-timing the current subs to match this rip.

Hope I have the time to do all this by then... Sweat
