Basically, he has a hard time dealing with Nodame's oddness... He expects her to be "perfect" like him and she's not... He doesn't hate her, but is frustrated by her at times... He really loves her more than he's willing to admit. Smile

I haven't read the manga and I haven't had any problems... Just watch the entire drama.
