Yeah, I did notice that, but being a comedy, I'm rather forgiving about the exaggerations... I suppose if it were incessant or redundant, I'd be a little put off myself.

Takenaka's performance as Stressemann is quite exaggerated over the manga/anime from what I've read/heard, but Takenaka's characterizations nearly always are that way, like in Shall we Dansu?, though he was quite restrained in Swing Girls...

Your point about exaggerations is valid, especially considering the producers deliberately set out to make a series which retained the characteristics of a comedic manga.
Re: Takenaka, yes, he has a history of acting over-the-top, but having seen him in so many movies, I guess I'm getting a little tired of his schtick. I did wonder though, why Masahiko Nishimura, who also has a history of playing quirky, edgy characters, is given such a bland role in this series.

That doesn't seem to stop him from getting recruited for any and all dramas... He's like, everywehere. Wink

I didn't recognize him at first with that graying rug on his head... Beaten

Takenaka Naoto was the math teacher and brandy-swirling jazz fan who taught the gals (and a boy) how to Swing. Victory! Peace!

You would have to have a very unique taste in drama to find this one disappointing. Mr Green
