I have problem connecting my PS3 to my 32lg7000 tv. well, when i change ps3 resulotion to 1080p, tv screen goes blank and can't find sp3. it also tells me no signal. if i change the resulotion on ps3 to 1080i, it works fine.
i tried to chose 1080p setting automatically on ps3 but it does not do that at all.
changed HDMI cables, tried it with other tv and it works just fine. i only have this problem on my tv.
my brother says i may need to send it for repair because there is something wrong with its setting as it should find ps3 setting as i connect.
please help |
Hmm, the obvious question is, does your 32LG7000 TV actually support 1080p?
What source material are you using to verify that the 1080p is working?

ok, sorry for double posts
YES, it is a full HD TV.
BUT, have no other 1080p device to test if anything wrong with my tv HD setting or not.
gorink mentioned very interesting point that it might be actually SP3 fault for not including a "handshaking hardware" that might not recognise every HD device connected to it. _________________

No harm done.

Hmm, that makes it tough...
Is this failure recent or have you never tried the 1080p mode before?
Have you tried another known 1080p video or whatever just to make sure it wasn't just that one video that has a problem?

I'm not familiar with PS3s, so I guess he could be right... Could there be a firmware patch to correct this possible problem?
EDIT: does the TV have a PC input? If so and your PC can drive a 1080p signal, you can connect your PC to the HDTV and verify that the TV is okay...

This is the BIG problem here. because since i bought this tv few months back, i did not check its 1080p setting because no such device. so i just assumed it works fine.

I think it does as i am not next to my tv right now ) but now, not so sure about my laptop is able to drive a 1080p signal. it is a 2 year old Vaio laptop. _________________

If not, maybe you can borrow a known working DVD player that can drive 1080p from someone you know? |
I don't have a blue ray/HD dvd player but i do have a dvd/divx player that does HDMI upscaling. is this one any good? _________________

Yeah, that would work if it upscales to 1080p... You might try it or check the player's manual.

Buying that'll give you the motivation to buy an HDTV.

Really? I saw a Sony Bravia 50" for around the same price. I admit I didn't really look at the specs b/c I know I wasn't buying, but I doubt the specs would be less that what this VIZIO has.
However, this VIZIO is something to keep on eye on. I have a job interview next week, got the call this afternoon. So if all goes well, I will seriously start looking at new TVs.

I'll bet that the Bravia isn't a 240Hz refresh HDTV... And probably not even a 120Hz model.
And the 42" Vizio (SV421XVT) with 240Hz refresh is about $950.

Just saw that model at Costco: $1199.95... That's cheaper than last year's similar model...

Wow, I came to ask a question about my computer but that WD Media Player may solve my problems too.
I have a PC with an HDMI port. Can I take an HDMI cable from the computer to my receiver which is connected to my HDTV and watch J-Dramas that way? I read somewhere that PC HDMI ports don't pass sound which would be a problem.
However, that player may be what I need as all my video is on an external USB drive. _________________ I live to level up.
