Yeah, I read the posts on the link you posted. It seems like more people like the WD box over the asus. However, there are those that said that hooking up the WD to a network was more of a hassle than the asus. I think I'm going to go for the wd box.

Yeah, I'd get the WD box, too... But I have to buy my HDTV first...
At a press event Monday Boxee, the open source media center, unveiled it's new beta as well as a prototype dedicated set-top box they built with partner D-Link. The Boxee Box will cost around $200 with a RF remote, Wi-Fi, Ethernet and outputs for HDMI (the only video output), optical audio, analog stereo audio, as well as two USB slots the company envisions being used to add a webcam, external hard drive or antenna for receiving over-the-air programming. It comes with a simple multi-directional remote. The new beta version of the Boxee software, which launches to the general public over the next four weeks and goes fully public in January features a completely redone interface as well as several new social networking features.
^Not a big fan of the design.
I decided not to get the WD Live box for now because my blu-ray player has played just about everything I tried. The only issue I had was when I tried to play .mp4 files. Actually the only .mp4 files I tried were the hardsubbed eps of Boss I downloaded from TimeLesSub's site. The manual says it can handle .mp4 files, but I guess it's very selective.

I think I'm gonna pull the trigger and buy my HDTV this weekend.
Go for it, HDTVs are great. Watching Blu rays on the big screen is amazing, before I only watched them on my pc monitor. If you can afford it go for it don't over think it cause by the time you get it set up at your house it'll be outdated anyways. It's just the way technology is.
