Bestbuy.com still list them at $79.99 with free shipping. Usually ships in 1-2 days business days accordingly to their site.
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id=1077624500910&skuId=6373827&productCategoryId=cat03013&type=product

Amazon.com site has them for $69.99 with free shipping. Even though the site says "In stock soon. Order now to get in line. First come, first served.
". I order one a few weeks ago and it shipped out the next day.

I have a couple of friends who also ordered from both sites and both of them had the Philips DVP642 ship out to them in 2 days and arrived at their homes 2 days after that.

That might be a good thing, Niko... How's the firmware support for the Philips? There's been a lot of griping about LiteOn's support, er, lack of it....
never had a problem i had to call support yet, *knocks on wooden head*. To sum it up: it's basically good machine except for:

1 - Lack of support for soft subs
2 - limited interface (remote)
3 - limited menu-manuverability (is that even a word? Bleah ) when you are JPN region mode.

Yeah, the remote for my LiteOn isn't very good either as are the options, but nothing's perfect. Smile

If I play anime in divx in it, would the subs get cut off? Or is there a way to resize it since I dont want to encode anime onto DVDs and rather just watch it in divx Bleah

I don't think it's a region issue with Trick2... Does it play on any other machine? If not, maybe a bad disc?

Gomen, Elt.

But did you play it on your player to check it out? A good burn doesn't necessarily mean a playable disc... Smile

Hahaha yea I know what ya mean. I usually just grab a random disc out of a batch and test it but that doesn't mean everything else is perfect, hehehe hehe

Sometimes even the Pioneer burner will have it's bad day, lol. I should know exactly how dumb machinese are, I'm finishing up this 20 page report of my internship this summer which is due Monday and it's all about how my test proves that this robot needs major changes Beaten

PostPosted: Tue Aug 03, 2004 8:15 am    Post subject: DivX DVD Players? Reply with quote Back to top

Sorry if this has been brought up in sidebar Sweat , but I wanted to start a thread with a couple questions:

Are DivX DVD Players becoming common place?

Does anyone recommend any models?

Is it even legal to have the format on a stand alone player?

Thanks in advance Sweat -- because converting DivX2VCD [for example] to watch dramas on larger screens realy takes away from the quality bleh that the DivX format provides Mr Green .
