Hey, it's the 29th of June, and I missed an anniversary.
On the 26th of January I sent in a fairly large order ($98.00) to Jason Kirk of Gojira.
Well, here we are at the end of June, and he has yet to send out a disc!
But heck, he's obviously not dead. I just got an email from him.
It would seem that the number of bad reviews have gotten his attention.
His email:
This e-mail is to serve as both an apology and an update on your
request. The last 6 months have been hard months for me on a personal
level and for reasons relating to this, I haven't been able to fulfill
many requests lately. Since I started offering DVD service as well,
requests are much more work than just copying a VHS tape. I am now in a
position where I can start filling these requests, but it will take
some
time to complete. I have been taking requests for ten years now and
I've
never cheated or stolen from anyone. I know many of you may have
already
given up hope and decided that I was a thief. You can rest assured that
if you sent a request to me, you will receive your discs or tapes.
Please accept my apologies for the delay. I hope to have things running
smoothly again in the near future.
Jason
My response:
Jason,
Does this line work on many of the people you've cheated?
Life's been rough?
Transfering video to DVDs is complicated?
On the 26th of January you "gladly accepted" my order.
Within a week, regardless of how tough life had become, you managed to cash my check for $98.00.
Since then, you've done nothing. (Nothing but gladly accept requests from other unsuspecting dupes. Yes, Jason, we've been talking.)
And now an email explaining that life's been rough, but you hope to have things running smoothly "in the near future."
Not, 'I'm sending out your discs now with a sincere apology.' Or 'I'm sending back your money.' But simply, I'm planning on having things back up and running in the future. Sometime. Eventually.
You're right Jason. I have given up on you. I do know you to be a thief.
After 4 months of waiting on you, I finally wised up and turned to another source for the shows I'd originally ordered from you.
You already stole my money, Jason. Be satisfied. Please don't insult my intelligence by sending me this sort of fiction again.

Right on, Kev!! You're clearly justified in your contempt and criticism of his canned excuse letter... No customer deserves to be put through a wringer like you have. Kudos.

At this point, if he sent me the discs, they'd be no more use to me than coasters.
The only good I can see coming out my experience with Jason Kirk at GoJira is that I learned my lesson. | although not nearly as steep as your rip, i've learned my lesson about rippers, kev. if you go to the 1st page of this thread, the guy that ripped me had the audacity to tell me i gave him some bad discs so that it was ok to not give me my stuff, but that only after 3 or 4 months of not even responding to my emails. this is a very helpful thread... _________________

All I can say is "What the f**k!!". I'm so pissed off about Gojira doing this, because I f**king backed the guy up and told people to have hope because he was always great for me. I feel like an @$$. THE NERVE OF HIM!!!!!!
Well, I haven't been trading for 10 years like he claims, but I don't see the cause for taking this long. I've been trading for about 3 years. If you can't fulfill a promise on time because of life issues or whatever, contact those waiting, apologize, fulfill the promise a little late, and then CLOSE for a while!! Easy. He was taking money, so finances should not be an issue. For personal issues, a brief albeit non-detailed explanation is due. Don't take on too much, but if you do or something happens to prevent you from fulfilling on time, all you have to do is contact, explain, and apologize...then fulfill it when you can. OR, when money is involved, REFUND IT!! Besides, that would give him less to do anyway, and the money should not have been spent anyway, so I would think you could go down the list and offer refunds

No need to be so hard on yourself, KS. The guy obviously smooth-talked, tricked, and conned a buncha people.... You needn't blame yourself.
