Gawd! Is it THAT bad? I guess bringing in taiga dramas is not a cheap venture for a TV station. On KIKU-TV, Shinsengumi! takes up approximately 58 minutes of airspace. Edited down to 44 minutes 28 seconds* average, that only leaves 13 minutes or so for commercials. And that's only on Tuesdays. On Sundays (repeats), there's only 54 minutes of airspace for the same episode, so only 9 minutes for commercials (the other four minutes used by the KIKU-TV community calendar).

* - I've edited 13 episodes so far

Yes it is.

When Musashi was airing here in SoCal, at the "half-hour break" there were 7-9 minutes of continuous commercials, with only a 15 second reminder that Musashi was being telecast... That's insane.

it's pretty much that bad out here. for a while, they weren't showing the location comments at the end of the episodes for musashi and they never show them for shinsengumi (my aunt visiting here from japan has told me they have 'em! total shock!). and we only get this on saturday nights.

my bro taped a couple episodes of shinsengumi while i was on vacation - when i came back, it came to roughly 30 to 35 minutes of show per hour. i know we're not getting the whole show - no way! so i have to wonder how much of musashi we actually missed and how much of shinsengumi we're missing. they put in the intro followed by several commercials, first break has maybe three or four commercials (roughly), then next break is about five minutes of commercials, at the half it's about eight or nine minutes, and maybe just slightly less than that at the three-quarter mark. it's either being cut in two and being shown on successive weekends or just being massively cut for the commercials. Shake Head

and it's the same stupid commercials every time! Angry

I watched Musashi and I'm watchin' Shinsengumi in NHK. Each episode, with no commercial breaks, lasts 45 minutes (the opening, the story and the location comments). If you take out the opening and the location coments, the episode lasts over 38 minutes ...
