Glad to help. Oh, DVD Region Free is trialware, not freeware. Sad You might wanna try DVD Region Killer... It's freeware. Big Grin

When I got my computer, my friend sent me a copy of DVD Region Free 3.32, along with a crack. He used it, the crack works. I haven't used it myself yet, but at least one exists Wink

Earlier I posted that JTV's orange days ep1 doesn't work on the Philips DVP642. I was wrong.

When I initially play it, the video is all blocky. But, if I hit the "SYSTEM MENU" button, and then go to "EXIT SETUP" it works.

I saw this workaround posted at the divx.com forums. This may also fix colour inversion problems.

If any one is still looking to buy the Philips 642 dvd player. You can get it from Amazon.com for $69.99 with free shipping. It's not in stock, listed below the item it says "In stock soon. Order now to get in line. First come, first served." But this is not the case. I placed a order yesterday afternoon and the dvd player was shipped out today by UPS.

The Orange Days encode done by JTV is actually not done properly. Half way through the episode, they didn't interlace the audio with video. If you use media player classic, it'll pick up the inconsistency.

the DVP642 does handle region dvds, and can play PAL on NTSC TVs just fine.

Trust me.. I've tested mine quite thorougly.

I am looking at getting the Philips DVP 642 and since you appear to have one, I am wondering if it will play all the titles that you are offering on your website?

i have the phillips player and i've gotten some stuff from buru before as well. if the file(s) are hardcoded, then yeah, the subs appear on the tv. but if they are softsubs, meaning they have associated .srt files, then you can just d/l videolan (free player) and they can use the .srt file to display the subs. softsubs don't work on the phillips.

I think BM's trying to point out "you snooze, ya lose..." I slept on the actual DVD player that i wanted, the Liteon, and that one they don't make any more. I had to settle for the phillips.

That might be a good thing, Niko... How's the firmware support for the Philips? There's been a lot of griping about LiteOn's support, er, lack of it....

next chance you get, jump on it, for $70. The only gripe i have is that the only interface, which is the remote, is not as complete as i'd like it to be. But other than that, (plus the issue with not being able to do any .srt files), it's a pretty good player.

I think it's one of the few (only?) name brand that is remote hackable and is one hell of a bargain for $70, so they're gettin' snapped up...
