Oh, man...

Get this: I WORK for the tour company that took care of last year's Hawaii tour. Hotel rooms for staff and fans, coordiating certain events, etc. Of course it was a totally different department so I had ZERO access, save for some hotel information and dates for that concert at the Waikiki Shell (locked out to outsiders, of course). I had SOME insider info but nothing I could act on.

This year, same thing. I gots the info but not like I can get past the velvet ropes.

Last August, however, I DID make contact. A friend told me that Musume and Company were going shopping at Ala Moana. So me and a fellow online nut (KrayGK on jpop.com) walked all around the damn place for an hour and found nobody but ourselves and strangers. We were resting on the side when she noticed Nono walking past us, along with a couple grown-up shields. Holy smokes, I thought.

So we followed her around to a waiting minivan. I think Taka-Ai was in there. And off they went...

Nah...

Some people online admonished me for not yelling out, shaking her hand and acting like an otaku fanboy in general. But I thought to myself, be cool: this is their time, not mine.

In retrospect, I'm glad I didn't act in a way that reflects the lunatic fringe fanbase that attended the fan-club tour last year. A person who works in our VIP section saw them at the H!P store here: a lot of men in their late-thirties and early-forties acting like maniacs. Not my style.

Anyway maybe we'll get another chance next monthc

Yeah.. i'm like you.. Say if I saw J-LO or some Famous person.. I would be like "hey how are you doing?" and thats it.. I would not be running around like an idiot..

If/When I meet Mari I would be just like any normal person.

Nah its a good thing you didn't act like a raving fanboy, they get enough of that in japan.

So you saw nono huh and maybe AiT too? Lucky bastard. Why do they always go to Hawaii, come to Australia!!! Rolling eyes

Oh well I'll do the next best thing *goes back to watching Morning Musume Best of Japan concert*

Of the types of people out there that like JPOP music, I would've never thought a heavy metal guitarist would be into that stuff... Marty Friedman, former guitarist of the speed metal band Megadeth, is totally into JPOP... He even loves Matsuura Aya stuff!!!!!

http://www.guitar-workshop.net/mv/marty/

Very rough translation from the article:

Quote:
GW: ...By the way do you have any favorite Japanese music?

MARTY: Anything. But Tsunku produced music is quite...mysterious. (laughs)

GW: What? You listen to Morning Musume and stuff?

MARTY: Yes. (laughs)

GW: Really? (laughs)

MARTY: I do. And I even play it for friends. The first time you hear it, it's just weird. But after the 2nd time you realize it's genius. The way the chords progress is great and the also way the beat keeps changing but you don't notice. It really flows. Matsuura Aya's songs for example.

GW: You know them??

MARTY: None of them have a constant beat right? But it's not all broken up - it's really flowing. Really technical stuff but still easy to listen to. At the end of the day, you have to say that these are good songs. And of course, it's amazing how the melody gets stuck in your head.)

GW: You're interested in that kind of stuff?

MARTY: I am. And in a way it's impacting on my solo work. Maybe it's hard to see exactly where though. I really want to peek in on a J-Pop session. I want to see how they do it. B'z and GLAY are also great. It's so different from American rock and that's what I like...

Yup, I wonder if he heard souda! we're alive? First time I heard it I just noted how different it was to everything else and the beat keeps changing but not in a broken way but flowed very well.

Dance Man did the arrangement for that, that dude is a genius too. Tsunku + Dance Man = some of the best H!P songs.

Oh wow... so true. Sometimes I turn down the treble on that song and turn up the bassline... incredible tune.

So whaddya make of the new PV?

I'm inclined to believe that they shot that on a real train and not a stage + bluescreen. If so, it's the first time since Furusato that they actually went outdoors to record a PV. Wow.

Anyway, I likes it...
