Hmmm. Newbies, old folk, know-it-alls, happy wanderers. We gottem all here folk.
I find the number of posts listed under our names interesting.
BMW got here in July of 03 -- 8464 posts.
Elton got here in Nov of '03 -- 4090 posts
I got here in August of '03 -- and I'm racing toward my 260th post.
Probably age. Us old folk damage our arthritic fingers when we type too much. That's why BMW sticks with pictures.
By the way... I like the galleries. Between the technical discussions that are completely over my head, and the ethical and moral pontificating that goes on here... I like being able to click on over to some pretty pictures.
They make me happy.
Sort of like why I watch J-Doramas in the first place. They make me happy.

Thanks for the vote of confidence guys. I guess you can't make everyone happy here...
Admittedly, my Ryoko-chan thread seemed to have opened the flood gates (pun intended ) for other artiste threads... But I don't see how it has weakened this board in any way, shape or form... Sounds like either sour grapes for whatever reason and/or someone's looking for a scapegoat......
lol I was just teasing ya bmwracer maybe I didn't use the right emoticons , I like looking at pretty woman as much as the next guy heck I posted tons of pics in the Hello! Project topic. In fact gallery threads are pretty common across a lot of forums and some even have special functions for it.
I like groink's theory on dwinding data to talk about. Btw for those that have followed doramas for a long time have the amount released before (say around the 90s) is more or less than now?

I guess I fall in with the newbies, but count as one of those who sort of disappeared. Just had a rather busy week, and combine that with a slow down of forum topics.
I like the galleries. They add flavor to the forums and allow fans to congregate and chat. Like sub-communities in this community.

Getting a word in here,
I like bmwracers posts. I like his lady's photos as well. She is a marvellous actress
I also love the pictures that Betsy put up of the dreamboats we both like and I do mean Matsuoka in particular.
We have not had anything like Myamoto Musashi to talk about for ages. That is causing a large hole in some of the postings don't you think?
You can't put Shinsengumi in that class of drama now can you??
Peg
and I haven't even groaned about having no pics of my Kimura san.......

Well I'm all for the artist pages Personally I feel it's like a tribute to the particular artist but it's easier on a forum than a webpage since posting pics and discussion is easy whereas making a whole site dedicated to an artist takes a bit more time. And also it helps me find out about other artist that I'm not familar with. Just my 2 cents

Oh okay, I guess I misunderstood since I don't know ya that well... It's cool. *offers hand in friendship*
I just thought you were like that other person who's trying to make it a career out of zinging me and blaming me for driving out the "old guard" here at JDorama...

bmwracer,
Get your armour buckled up again my dear.......
Did you ever watch Hojo Tokimune some time ago?? Did anyone watch it??...Long historical fabulous drama. I loved it and especially Watanabe Atsuro... Remember the part about the Divine Wind that drove the Genghis Khan hordes away in their ships. Lots of other sequences..Very long drama.
Then there was Ooku (?) think that's right. Beautiful to look at for sceneery and costumes... in fact the most magnificent costumes I have yet seen in a drama.
Well have at it old dear.....Can't wait for Musashi....

It's pretty common, this cycle, I mean.
Back in the day it was Juliana Phang, Pemu, Prince, Loveless, Arashi, Michi and other "old timers" like that who (I guess) "ruled" the boards. Then we came along. And now the newbies have come.
I don't know. The cycle is weird.
i'm an oldie here too member since 2002, but back those days i was inactive for a year its bcoz i'm a graduating stud. too mush thesis.

I just notice my join date says 2002 but I don't think I actually started posting till 2003. I tend to lurk in a forum for a while before I get a feel for it and start posting.

I did, at times, notice an inexplicable, omnipresent force permeating JDorama... Now I know!

I don't know about BMW, but I sure saw Hojo Tokimune. And I agree with you. Watabe Atsuro pretty much stole the show. As did Watanabe Ken.
Watanabe played papa Hojo. And Watabe played Tokimune's brother.
Those two just went to town with their roles. They were pretty much everything Tokimune wasn't.
I wasn't too surprised with the power Watanabe had on screen.
But Watabe blew me away. Now those were some great great fight scenes.
That was also the first time I saw Kimura Yoshino, as the pirate's daughter. Now there's a woman who deserves a gallery.
And Ooku: The Inner Palace. Staring Kanno Miho. You're right. The costumes were beautiful. But sadly I was trying to watch it on the International Chanel, and they don't have sub titles... so I didn't stick with the show.
But the one I really loved was; "Aoi Tokugawa" That was my intro to the NHK Taiga Dramas. And it's still probably my favorite.

Hey Peg !!!!! What's up ??? I'm waitin' to receive the Musashi Book one to scan the pics (I ordered it three months ago, but I hadn't received it yet). Actually, groink received his books, maybe he'll scan the pics.
I didn't watch these taiga, but I definitely love Watanabe Ken. I'm sure he really had stolen the scenes ... _________________
