Oh yeah that one looks really good, between that, Bourne Supremacy, and the Manchurian Candidate, I'm one broke ass SOB
Yeah, especially at today's theater prices...

Yeah you should defenitely see Harold and Kumar, if not for the funny as hell stereotyping right down to John Cho being punked cause he's the quiet Asian guy working at the office and wait till you see the goings on at the Korean party they have at the Ivy League school lol
Funny you should mention Koreans: there's a great scene in a Koreatown dance club in Collateral...
Don't worry about it BMW, in a few short years, we Californians will be shelling out the same number of greenbacks as New Yorkers
Well, John Cho is Korean, and Bobby Lee (who cameos) of Mad TV fame is too, so it would make sense for the party to be Korean, though that Korean dance club you mentioned for some reason brought Blade to mind.

Oh, man, I didn't know this thread existed. Yeah, that "Harold and Kumar . . ." is just, it's really funny. Sleeper comedy of the summer. I've actually never been to a White Castle (which is just uber for me; being a non-red meat eater and all) . . . but, thanks for mentioning the above, Golgo_13, because, I really was wondering if folks eat so many burgers at one time as Harold and Kumar did that morning (it's seemingly believable since both of them exerted hordes of energy overnight, add to that their . . . well, that thing they smoked which I heard makes you hungry after smoking it). I mean, those burgers looked small, but not small enough to consume as much as those two did and that's, what? WITH fries and at least 3 big drinks each.
The Village . . . sigh, that movie is something else. I can't give that one a grade or anything. Fools you, almost betrays you.
Now, Collateral is THE hit of the season. Terrifc performance by Cruise and Jamie Foxx does a good job, and if they can give Joe Pesci an Oscar for something like Goodfellas, then Foxx might be looking forward to the same trophy as well. Cruise, though, man, steals the show with his deadpan lines ("you mean I gotta get to know someone before I kill 'em?" 'Bout 20 folk in the late-night showing we attended, and everyone was cracking up at that line, and some others as well). Speaking of that dance club scene . . . wouldn't it have been funny if Cruise reprised his David Aames solo dance from Vanilla Sky? Man, that was some bad dancing. Good think Cruise is a great actor. Oh, well, there's always the DVD (which I WILL pick up once available legally) outtakes for which we can hope.
I think Michael Mann's the X Generation's Francis Ford Coppola.

It is an excellent movie. Foxx plays his part perfectly as does Cruise... Everyone thinks that Foxx will get a nomination for Ray, but he'll have to go some ways to top his regular guy role in this movie...
Gen X, Michael Mann? Nah.... He's been around way before Gen X existed, directing movies like Thief and Manhunter... But he is an excellent director, though I didn't like Ali that much.

Yeah, Mann's great. Miami Vice, oh, has ANY show beaten that one?
Ah, we might to agree to disagree here . . . Thief and Manhunter are 1980s films. I saw those. Gen X is, what, folks born between mid 1960s to mid 1970s? I dunno what other director, other than George Lucas, that I can say I actually followed from when they were starting up to gaining noteriety. I'd like to put Tarantino in the same category, but, he needs more of a catalogue, I guess; still trying to see where he's going.

Hmm, I thought Gen X was post-1970... Regardless, calling Mann a Gen X director would be a disservice to him... Great directors (Capra, Hitchcock, Kurosawa, et al) are timeless.

Oh, yeah, well, I'll agree with that -- he's a great director for all generations. But, if my kids or grandkids manage to catch a "Michael Mann Retrospect on AMC 2" or something, at least I can say, "[cough, cough grabs cane, stands up, rubs bad head where great hair used to be] he also used to have this show back in the 1980s on something we used to call a television, not this floating picture screen you can take wherever you go nowadays, you spoiled kids you, called Miami Vice. Yeah, that was something. I saw those films in the movieplexes of old. Great stuff." Is all I'm saying.
Oh, YEAH, I forgot about that angle. Sigh . . . maybe they can grind up some ahi special-like and make that six-pack for me. Then, again, if I'm eating ahi, that'd be w/hashi and some other pupus (man, should THAT word stir up quizzical responses from the non-aina gallery, eh, groink?).
Picked up that Collateral soundtrack too. Has EVERY song in the film. From Bach's Air to The Roots Seed 2.0. Great tunes . . . then again, that's a Michael Mann mainstay as well.
Gee, The Man's CD collection's gaining . . . my single stack of CD albums reaches 1/2way up the wall of my living room. Egads! Let's aim for the entire wall by New Years, eh?

man, i can't believe you said Collateral was good. To me, it sucked so much. Most of the ppl from my crowd disliked it, too. So many flaws.....I would spit it out, but it would be spoiling everything...*sigh* o wells, different taste. But, I really thought Cruise picked the wrong script! ;P

I thought Collateral was okay. Not the best, but not the worst either for me.
The part with the cheetah in Harold and Kumar was so funny. Me and my friend couldn't stop laughing for 5 minutes straight. It was so stupid that it was funny.
