yup, and I also want to see some increase in dvd burning speed also. 8x isn't bad but 8min is still long!
8 Min!!! My burner is a max of 2X. It takes me an hour to burn a whole disc. Granted, I purchased one of the early reliable models(Pioneer A2).
I was always under the impression that DVD's intended for table-top players had to be burned at 1X, or there would be playback trouble. Has that changed?

I burn at 8x and my DVDs came out fine. I think burners nowadays are much more reliable thanks to better technology but it also depends on your quality of media as well. A good burner and good media essentially gives you the best burn rate and quality.

Details man! Details!!!
Like I said, I used the older Pioneer. I used to have reliable burns with TDK DVD-R's, but the last several crapped out on me. Blocking, skipping, you name it.
I'm not that familiar with SPEED yet or any jbands for that matter except for Do As Inifinity. What Speed songs are good? I'll probably check them out...
Heh I'll say every song is good if you ask me. White Love, Alive, My Graduation, and many more are all good. Some more hip-hop and upbeat songs would be Go Go Heaven!, Steady, All My True Love, Body & Soul, Breakin' Out to The Morning. Their last album [Bridge] has many good songs too, well I like them all too except for one.
It looks like I'm just listing all their songs. But you really have to check them out for yourself.

He likes SPEED, but Uehara Takako is his all time fav.
No I'm a BIG fan of all of them! Yes even Hitoe! I like both Takako and Eriko the best; can't choose! Then Hiro and Hitoe. Yes I'm greedy.

Ask Niko, he'll tell you.
I've read he dated Shibasaki Kou before too. Both Takako and Kou couldn't stand him; damn punk
Well, it came w/ my new PC, and it DID work just fine until a few days ago. I have a warranty and stuff, but eh...I'm trying to avoid taking it in if I have to.
It seems to fail on every data DVD I try to make, but sometimes it works when I make a copy of a DVD half of the time, if I lower the speed. CD's burn with no problem though. Here's the stats in case anyone's interested or went through this with an NEC ND-1300a:
Nero 5.5 installed (installed this 2 months ago, worked fine w/ cd's, hadn't tried dvd's until Roxio was failing)
Roxio 6 installed (came preinstalled, yuck)
firmware 1.07 (flashed it last night to 1.09, no difference so far, dunno how to roll back to 1.07, I probably can't )
DMA enabled
In Roxio: burn fails around 93% or just before leadout. "Unspecified error".
In Nero: Gets stuck for 2+ minutes and fails at 1% saying "Illegal disk error, error reading data, burn failed".
Everyone's telling me I'm using cheap/bad media. Well, if that's so, then why did it work the other day? I'm using the same spools. Fails on Fuji, Verbatim, and Ridata (ritek g04) if burning data disk. No changes were made prior to the problem, which is why I can't pinpoint the problem.
Oddly enough, last night my speeds in Roxio started being listed as 1.9x (2.6mb/s) and 3.9x (5.2mb/s) rather than 2x and 4x, not it's for every disk
I've been told these are possible problems: Nero and Roxio conflicting w/ each other (but both have been working for months now), burner dying (heh?? this thing is 4 months old!), firmware. I'll keep reading....but it makes me even more confused If worse comes to worst, I'll just start burning a ton of CD's to back things up then take it in to be checked
Kou, make an inquiry over at videohelp.com...
Have you installed any new software before the problem occured?
Maybe it's time to tidy up your HD and remove either Nero or Roxio just as a test...

Yeah, I saw those a few weeks ago...
They look great, but what I really want is a DVD burner that can burn dual layer at a fast speed. At present, the fastest burners can only do dual layer at 4x speed.

Good luck.
Yeah, I cleaned up and did a defrag. I need to clear some more off in case I need to take it in for service I did read some past posts about similar issues on videohelp, didn't look too promising. My last test will be uninstalling Roxio, which looks like it's coming soon. I just read around that some of the drivers that might cause the conflicts may linger on there, but I'm not sure how to make sure it's completely out of my system.
I do have some stuff to burn for trades and since Roxio gives me my only chance of making a successful copy, I'm keeping it until I'm finished burning the trades From what I keep reading, w/ the 1300a Roxio and Nero's drivers conflict, but then again, I was able to burn with no problem as they both have been on my computer together for months now. But I hadn't tried to burn a DVD w/ anything but Roxio...at least not until Roxio started failing.
I hadn't installed anything new before the problem happened and didn't make any changes, which is why I've been stumped. Plus I was using the same media from the same spool that had burned successfully before I guess I'm stubborn....

And you said that CD burning is okay?
Hmm, try running DVDInfoPro (http://www.dvdinfopro.com/index.php) and see if that program might give you some insight on the drive and/or media...

Speaking of Speed, I'm getting the one of the albums off of usenet right now since someone was kind enough to post them. I've only heard Bridge which I like so I know the older stuff is going to be just as good if not better. The only one I've heard outside of Bridge is My Graduation which I love cuz it reminds me of my own graduation.
