That's interesting... In the JDorama.com database, it's spelled "Yuka". And, virtually all the image scanners name their files "yuka". Also, the Kanji characters themselves translate to "Yuka" when using the Romaji translation rules, even though the "D" sound is more like "yuu". It all depends on how anal a person is about it.
So I'm not the only one...

Normally for names like these (touno/tohno, yuuki, etc) there are several variants of their names. I haven't really fixed on a specific rule to use which name in the database.. (e.g. Suzuki Anne, should be "An", but she's much more popularly known as Anne). Think thats why I put "Yuka" instead of "Yuuka" last time.. _________________

Uchida Yuki is so hot!
Thanks for the pics, but this is not a gallery. Please PM your pic(s) and intro to our site administrator, Genma if you wish for an artist to be added as a "Feature Artiste". _________________

When you pronounce her name, it is "Yuuka", although the kanji you've provided spells "Yuka". It's hard for me to explain, but there are many other Japanese who have odd names like that. You pronounce it differently than the way you spell it. --Weird? Yes, but it's true.
It has nothing to do with being "anal". I guess I was only thinking in terms of the prounounciation rather than the written aspect of it. But either way you cut it, they both are okay. My bad for making it sound as though "Yuuka" was the only way. I should've went into further explaination, and been more precise. _________________

Actually, what I thought it has always been Yuuka even in spelling.. made a quick check in the dictionary and all entries show "yuu". I'm weak in kanji, correct me if wrong. http://jdorama.com/list.php?s=%97D&w=w&op=and&l=j _________________

After asking three Japanese references, they've all concured that the pronounciation is "Yuu", while the kanji spells out "Yu".
Maybe the dictionary program is converting the kanji into the way that it should be pronounced?
But when I tried, I kept on getting the same thing that you got when I tried this site http://www.csse.monash.edu.au/~jwb/wwwjdic.html but after asking three Japanese people, they've all said that "Yuu" is only the way you say it, and that the kanji provided, translated from Kanji to Hiragana is "Yu".
My friends and my wife must be thinking "Why do I keep asking them about Yuuka?" _________________

uhm, do we have a link for all the featured artists created so far? (to prevent doing multiple refresh on the main page)
Noticed that the list on the first page of this thread is no longer updated. _________________

In the front page, place your mouse over "Feature Artiste" immediately above the feature artiste pic. Click on it. _________________

Here's the one I did for Kuroki Hitomi a while back but never got around to posting:
If an actress' beauty was measured by her age, then Kuroki Hitomi takes the cake. But don't be fooled, this mature knock-out's figure still packs quite a punch. Her roles in Good Luck and Majo no Jouken are a testament to her superb acting ability as well as her timeless beauty.
Some suggestions on the write-ups... Things I think an interesting and informative write-up covers are at least three of the following:
1) Mention of at least one of the artist's work in the past that you think established the artist (it doesn't have to be a lead role).
2) Mention of at least one of the artist's current dramas, especially one that artist has a lead role).
3) Other activities or skills outside of dramas, if any (volunteering at an ophanage, ability to play 28 different instruments, etc.)
4) Latest news about the artist, such as getting married, having a baby, receiving an award, etc.
5) Activities prior to getting into dramas (member of a JPOP group, J-idol, winning a talent contest, etc.)
I also recommend that the elements of a write-up also be in chronological order.
I'm not criticising any one particular write-up here. I'm just throwing out some ideas that some of you may find useful when writing your write-ups.
