No, it was mentioned directly by the star.I remember her mentioning doing it, eating some, and the others thinking it was weird or gross, and I think someone tried it after she left or something. Man, wish I could remember which one it was. I remember thinking it was weird myself at the time...

I think you're right on that... Earlier today, I had a chat with my co-worker whose wife is from Japan. He never heard about the mayonaise/ramen thing... However, he did mention that Japanese mayonaise is quite different from American mayonaise (Best Foods, Miracle Whip, etc.) -- enough of a big difference to make them go out and buy the Japanese mayonaise from a Japanese grocery store about 15 miles away from where they live (Daiei in Pearl City for you Hawaii people). I'm going to check it out later this week to see what this stuff is about...

Hehehe... This thread is starting to sound like a Soko ga Shiritai episode!

You can also get it at Marukai. It's cheaper than Daiei. Smile

And yeah, we sound like a Soko Ga Shirtai episode already. hehe

Weird food combinations that may actually be tasty! Smile

Would you happen to remember if in the scene the characters made a big deal out of the fact that she put the mayo in her ramen? Or, was it just something you saw her do and no one mentioned it (i.e. seeing someone putting ketchup on french fries is no big deal at all).

Yes it's not a big deal to put ketchup, or mayonnaise, or moutarde on french fries Smile

Is moutarde a type of dijon mustard?

You wanna talk about great bakeries? Then look no further than Ishigo Bakery (15934 S Western Av Gardena, CA 90247)... Their stuff is much better than the overrated King's Hawaiian stuff... The Lillikoi (sp?. Passion Fruit) and Haupia (sp?, Coconut) cakes are to die for... Applaud

I've always thought King's was overrated... I'd rather hit up The Loft for "Hawaiian" food: larger servings, bigger selection, better taste...
