Welp there it is. Giant's lose and Dodgers win. Man, what a wild finish but at the end of the day, the Dodgers proved to be the better team. No excuses for this loss, the Dodgers earned it all year. Congrats to you LA fans and good luck in the post season.
Poor Bret Tomko pitched his heart out today too. Hopefully Houston will lose and we SF fans might have a chance tomorrow with Schimdt on the mound. Oaktown is also out of the playoffs. Bad day here in the bay area.
A maybe a small note on Hermanson's defense, this was the 5th straight day he pitched. I honestly would have listed him as not available but Alou used him anyways.

Eh, the Dodgers suck. I can never say "Dodgers" and the word following this sentence in the same sentence. "Good"
Hermanson just isn't an ideal closer IMO. He doesn't have enough speed on his fastball to be effective. If he had a good fastball, he'd be a bigger threat, but I've watched some of his games, and he gives up too many bases for a closer.

Yea I know exactly how you feel. As much as I love my Giants, I play it fair have to give credit where it's due. A 7 run 9th is amazing, although I was cussing my heart out the whole time

Yea he only throws 93 max and that's not very effective. He does have a sharp slider and split but I think he's a better choice than Herges. You must remember that he's been a starter all his life and with an offseason of preparation, he can bump up the fastball to the mid 90s. Maybe the Giants could try Foppert in a relief role next year or something. He's got a mid 90s fastball with a nasty slider. So nasty that he once struck out Helton on 2 straight sliders.
Anyways, where is BMW with his incredibly large font?

Well if Nen ever heals, he's probably the closer for next season. I think he was supposed to come back mid-season this year, but more complications I guess. But a fresh Nen next year would be sweet.

Yea, that would be "if" he comes back. If he can't recover from this surgery, he has said he would hang it up but if he does come back, he definately wants to be back with the Giants. I hope he will have the same stuff as before. A healthy Nen would own Eric Gagne

Giant's win but so does Houston so they're officially out. Nice outting from Schimidt though and it's great to see Foppert pitch a scoreless inning with 2 Ks. Back to the drawing board for us.
So here we go, playoff fever! It's the Hunt for October and your first round match up goes as follows.

You wanna talk about choking, then you gotta talk about the A's...
TELL ME ABOUT IT! I WAS AT THE FREAKING GAME ON SATURDAY!!!
For the Oakland A's, Saturday's lost was the season in a nutshell: played good enough to win but the bullpen blows it. I think that was 22nd or 23rd blown hold/save of the season.
Now you understand why we refer to the closer, Octavio Dotel, as Octavio DOH-tel...
However, it was the worse for the Giants... bullpen blew a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the 9th, to lose 3 to 7, giving up three runs to make it a tie and then giving up a Grand Salami. It is theoretically impossible for the Giants bullpen to have done a worse job, a disaster for the history books.
At least my homeboys, the Cal Bears, are kickin' booty!

Minnesota?? I dunno....
I do know it ain't gonna be Boston.... The Curse Lives!!!
Well either that or Anaheim but I hate Anaheim (see 2002 playoffs) and I want to see the Yanks and their free spending losing again. That and in Johan "AL Cy Young award winner" Santana I believe
