Only 11 Episode on J-Drama ???

Anyone know why most Japanese TV series created on 11 episode only ... and it so different if we compare with K-Drama or TW-Drama .... why ????

You think this is because of budget or other reason ?

no it's because of dramas being shown on tv and change every season.. as far as i know... only nhk never bothered with that seasonal thing..

in a season which consists of three months there are only 12 times a week at the most so most dramas will end after 11 episodes.. those that are popular might add another episode due to response from viewers.. well the shortest drama i have ever seen was only 9 episodes.. and that was kindaichi 3 because it was not story based.. you can have many episodes you want and there's no ending.. about kindaichi's life that is.. it based on him solving murder cases..

as for korean and taiwanese dramas.. they are not shown once a week like japanese dramas but usually are shown every weekday so they are not particular about no. of episodes.. in japan every season means a new change of dramas usually 5 each week.. it's een done since.. well ages..

The eps are unrelated to each other. Doesn't continue from the previous ep. Detective dramas aren't the only one. Big Wing for instance, no crime solvin Others one ep/story dramas: Investigator Mariko, Hero, Shomuni 1-2, Food Fight, You're Under Arrest, Sensei Shiranaino etc.

actually i kind of like it short.. i really admire those producers who can within a 11 episode show pack in so much emotion.. that's really great...

11 and 12 eps are the most common lengths in dramas. Neither long nor short

i prefer it like this from 10 to 12 episodes... but sometimes there may not be enough time for character devt and stuff.... but it's still good....
and i know it's definitely not cos' of budget.... each episode of a dorama does cost a lot!!

i also agree.. definitely not because of budget... look at the difference of quality between certain taiwanese dramas and japanese dramas.. maybe taiwan producers should consider making their episodes short and thus they can spend money on the quality...

They have this Korean channel on NYC local,

Channel 17 I think - when I was there I watched the K-dramas on in the morning then looped at night [just in case you missed it].

I was happy to see any drama on television let alone one subbed in english.

Anyway, now that I think of it - story plot lines were not that complex and the quiet pauses and western style soap opera late cut aways made it almost unbearable.

But I guess we all have patients for the dramas. We will wait till the last episode to come to our conclusions. Very forgiving of us I think.
