Though she's not listed in the credits, I swear that's Yada Akiko playing the role of the sister, Sakaki Shiori. Since this dorama was filmed back in 1995, she must have been 17 years old.

There!
At the beginning credits for Episode 7, they finally list Yada Akiko as Sakaki Shiori.

I'm trying to remember the credits, but I think her name is listed from the very beginning. Except they (the translators) waited until said episode to list her name in English. But it's there in episode 1. In addition, the kanji (Vlj also appears, thus implying this was Akiko's debut role on screen.

Serves me right for forgetting my own language.

Don't worry. Somehow I remember her name in kanji from other dramas, and when I rewatched the show (thanks, btw) I saw the characters flash by. That's when I saw the other kanji that told me (at least) that this might have been her first drama. Judging from her age at that time leads me to believe this was the case.

Hey Dabbies, I do know Chinese, but not very well. U might say I'm a "banana." Wonder what J-drama u 1st saw Akiko-chan in? Do let me know if u do see a VCD wif English subtitles. Even anime like "Naruto" have them nowadays, abt time J-drama VCDs follow suit.

Oh i am same as you only managed to find 'De Mi Corazon'! Maybe can try to ask Kinokuniya in Takashimaya since the store is having a more variety of books .... last time when i am looking for 'De Mi Corazon' it's out of stock but the stuff of Kinokuniya managed to book and ship in one copy for me from Japan without any additional cost!

Here in the SF Bay, we usually refer to such people as Twinkies. Those are a dessert made by Hostess Inc., which consist of yellow cake on the outside and a white cream filling.

Although I adore Akiko-chan, she has never been a drop-dead gorgeous type of woman. She's usually what we call in the USA the girl-next-door type, which is to say, cute or pretty in a standard way. Plus, she often plays good-girl type characters.

Yo PcModem, u r pretty sharp 2 know wat I was talking abt. Interesting term 2 use. Do u use if for just e Chinese ppl or all yellow-skinned Asian ppl in general? Oh, & 1 more thing, I heard of offensive labels like "Chink" or "Jap" being used, so if u do get 2 mt Akiko-Chan in person or e chance 2 send her a msg, be careful of hw u address her. "Banana" & "Twinkes" sound less offensive as well as humorous, IMO. But it still pays 2 be careful in case e person is rather sensitive.
While she's nt e drop-dead gorgeous kind of woman, she does have e X-factor or charisma. I feel it's better than being drop-dead gorgeous w/o charisma.
