 |
|
|
Hi!
I'm Snowy in Japan and I'm in love with this drama.
I'm brand new to this forum. Nice to meet you all:)
Today, I went to the video store and rented episode 5-11 of Sekachu.
And since I'm in love with this drama, I translated the script of episode 5. I just wanted to share it with you all so I'm posting it.
I only translated the dialogues so anyone who doesn't have the video of this drama would probably not be able to enjoy my translation. I'm sorry about that.
I also have to say that I have no experience in translation and I did this merely out of fun so I apologize in advance if I don't meet up to everyone's expectations.
For those who decided to read my translation, thank you. Please enjoy the script . Oh! And one more important thing...
PLEASE DON'T READ AHEAD IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS IN EPISODE 5!!!
gSekai no chushin de Ai wo sakebuh
Note 1: I will write gAki Kobayashih when referring to Aki Kobayashi (played by Sachiko Sakurai) but when I write just gAkih it will be Aki Hirose (played by Haruka Ayase).
Note 2: Saku is the nickname of Sakutaro Matsumoto. Bozu is the nickname of Akiyoshi. Suke-chan is the nickname of Ryunosuke.
Episode 5
Yatabe: Forget her, Matsumoto. I will remember for you. Donft worry and forget her.
Aki Kobayashi: What kind of a person was Aki Hirose? Oh, Ifm sorry. I kind of heard about her from your mom and dad. You know, youfve helped me with Kazuki and my job. So, I was wondering if there was anything I could do for youcTherefs a hill on my way home from the supermarket and when Ifm carrying a bag of rice, I canft help but want someone to hold it with me. It would be a little better with someonefs help. God, what am I saying?
Sakutaro: Kobayashi. Thanks.
Sakutaro (monologue): That night, when the little Kobayashi seemed a little bigger, I was able to put out the box that I kept inside the closet. Ever since Aki has left, I was scared of opening this box. I couldnft help but think that it would bring me back to those days. But, opening the box after 17 years was much more peaceful than I imagined. For the first time in my life, I thought that I wanted to talk to someone about Aki.
Sakutaro: Are you really going back by ship?
Aki Kobayashi: My little prince wants to. Are you going to stay here for a while?
Sakutaro: Until I can scatter the bones.
Aki Kobayashi: I see.
Sakutaro: About yesterdaycwhat should I talk about? I mean, Ifve never talked about it before.
Aki Kobayashi: For instance, about the time when you were the happiest.
Sakutaro: Happiest? That island is called gYumejimahcIfm not sure if I can talk about it right.
Aki Kobayashi: Itfs OK, Saku.
Sakutaro: You called me gSakuh for the very first time.
Aki Kobayashi: Itfs not Matsumoto-kun whofs going to tell the story but gSakuh is, right?
Sakutaro (monologue): As if shefs leading me by the hand, I started talking about the person I loved. About the miserable me who canft get over what happened 17 years ago. Because I want this person to know about it. Because I want to hold hands againcwith life.
TITLE gCrying out love in the center of the worldh
Dr. Sato: You have a slight fever. Are you tired?
Aki: I strained myself a little bit.
Dr. Sato: Oh. (looking at her bruises) Whatfs that? Did you hit your leg somewhere?
Aki: Ifm not sure.
Dr. Sato: Have you had a hemorrhage somewhere else?
Aki: The other day, my nose bled.
Dr. Sato: How about dizziness?
Aki: Sometimescbut it was a very hot and sunny day.
Dr. Sato: Letfs go through a blood test just in case.
Ayako (Akifs mom): What was it?
Aki: Hmm? I guess I was a little tired. Maybe a little anemic, too.
Ayako: Please rest until your fever abates, OK?
Aki: But itfs the closing ceremony before summer break today.
Ayako: You canft go.
Principal: Have a meaningful summer break to prepare for the second term. For the third-graders, itfs a time for your last spurt. For the second-gradersc
Sakutaro (monologue): Suke-chan went to see her girl friend in Tokyo and even Aki was absent from the closing ceremonyc
Chihiro: Juliet was absent today.
Kumi: Is she directing without Romeo?
Sakutaro (monologue): Even though summer break starts tomorrow, we were turned off.
Akiyoshi: Ic
Tomoyo: Did you get a call from Ryunosuke?
Sakutaro: No.
Akiyoshi: Saku, Ic the day after tomorrowc
Sakutaro: Do you know why Aki was absent from school today?
Akiyoshi: Listen to me at least for today. Suke-chancwhat do you think hefs doing?
Sakutaro: Ouch.
Ryunosuke: I see. You guys missed me that much, huh?
Ryunosuke: To make the story short, she had a new boyfriend.
Tomoyo: Hey, did you go without knowing that youfve already been dumped? After all that fuss?
Akiyoshi: Thatfs pathetic. That is so pathetic.
Tomoyo: How can you come back looking so casual?
Ryunosuke: Youfre so right.
Tomoyo: How can you say that?! You donft even know how Icwe felt.
Ryunosuke: See, I reminisced about you guyscI mean, I wanted to come back to you guys. Haha. Ifm sorry for making you all worry about me.
Akiyoshi: Well, we didnft reallycright?
Sakutaro: Welcome home.
Ryunosuke: Ifm backcyou.
Tomoyo: Hey, you apologize to Aki.
Aki: Why donft you sit at ease?
Sakutaro: Oh, yeah.
Aki: Did you come to see me because Ifm sick?
Sakutaro: Yeah. But I had something to talk to you, too. Suke-chan came back from Tokyo.
Aki: Really?
Sakutaro: His girlfriend in Tokyo already had a new boyfriend.
Aki: Is that so?
Sakutaro: And to make up for all the trouble he caused, he wants to invite us all to go camping.
Aki: To where?
Sakutaro: Yumejima.
Aki: Yumejima?! You mean Yumejima, the deserted island? That was supposed to become a resort island? When? When are we going?
Sakutaro: Well, the thing is itfs the day after tomorrow. Bozu insisted on the day after tomorrow.
Aki: Oh. (giggling) Yumejimac
Sakutaro: You seem really happy.
Aki: Ifve never frolicked with a bunch of friends.
Sakutaro: Really?
Aki: Ifve never had the kind of friends like you have.
Sakutaro: But are you OK?
Aki: Ifll try hard to get well.
Sakutaro: Your dad is strict, isnft he?
Aki: Ifll try hard to trick him.
Saku and Aki laugh.
Aki: I canft wait.
Makoto (Akifs dad): No sleepovers.
Aki: Why not? Itfs the camp that the athletic team is going.
Makoto: I thought you retired.
Aki: So, this is the last. Itfs a farewell thing as well.
Makoto: Is the teacher going, too?
Aki: Of course.
Ayako: I think you should give up this time. You have a fever.
Aki: It abated already!
Ayako: If you get sick while camping, youfre going to cause trouble for every one, right?
Aki: I know, butc
Makoto: No gbuths.
Tomiko (Sakufs mom): Camping? With whom?
Sakutaro: With Suke-chan and Bozu.
Tomiko: Are you sure thatfs it?
Sakutaro: Why?
Fumiko (Sakufs sister): You know, youfve been called gGum-boyh by the neighbors recently.
Sakutaro: Why?
Fumiko: I guess itfs because you two are always clinging to each other.
Tomiko: Youfre all right but shefs a girl. Donft you do anything that her parents would worry about.
Sakutaro: Ifm not!
Junfichiro (Sakufs dad): I see.
Ayako: Are you not going to eat forever?
Aki: If I ate, am I allowed to go? I wonft be able to play because of the college examination preparation next year. I want to go somewhere with my friendsc
Ayako: I canft let a girl with a fever go to a deserted island.
Aki wakes up in disbelief.
Ayako: Your voice was loud. You canft take care of yourself if something happened.
Sakutaro: A pan, a kettle...
Akiyoshi: Why donft we need a tent?
Sakutaro: They were planning to make a resort over there. So, there are hotels that were built and left. Thatfs why we donft need them.
Ryunosuke: Says him.
Sakutaro: I heard that there are places to sleep, but I think we should bring sheets and pillows by ourselves.
Akiyoshi: Youfre amazing.
Sakutaro: Oh, Suke-chan. About our mealsc
Ryunosuke: Letfs fish and grill the fish on a skewerc
Sakutaro: But that wonft be enoughc
Ryunosuke: Why donft you ask Tomoyo?
Sakutaro: Oh, Suke-chan! Did you call Tomoyo?
Ryunosuke: Not yet.
Sakutaro: No kidding! Why havenft you told her yet?! Are you really into this, Suke-chan?!
Ryunosuke: Um, Ifm sorry.
Sakutaro: Fine! Ifm going to talk to her myself. For Godfs sake!!
Akiyoshi: Whatfs wrong with him? Isnft he too enthusiastic?
Ryunosuke: Leaving that, hey, why does it have to be tomorrow?
Akiyoshi: I am really happy youfre back. Youfre the only one who asked me that. See, tomorrow, Ic
Akiyoshifs dad: Akiyoshi!
Tomoyo: Ifm not going.
Sakutaro: What? But Akifs really looking forward to it and if you donft come she would be the only girlc
Tomoyo: Ifm sorry but Ifm a young girl and if boys are coming, too, I think my parents wonft let me go.
Tomoyofs dad: Oh, Saku! Long time no see.
Sakutaro: Sir, we want to go camping with Tomoyo tomorrowc
Tomoyofs dad: Go ahead. Go, go. You can go marry her, too.
Tomoyo: Hey!
Tomoyo: Anyway, hefs going to be awkward around me and I donft know how to act around him either. I need time to sort my feelings out. Ifm sorry. Ifll call Aki myself.
Sakutaro: Uhc
Phone conversation between Aki and Dr. Sato
Aki: Hello.
Dr. Sato: This is Inashiro General Hospitalfs Sato speaking. Is Mrs. Ayako Hirose there?
Aki: Shefs not here right now. Can I leave a message?
Dr. Sato: Itfs about her daughter.
Aki: What?
Dr. Sato: Is this Aki?
Aki: No, Ifm her sister.
Dr. Sato: Then, could you tell her to come for a retest tomorrow?
Aki: Whatfs wrong with her?
Dr. Sato: No, just in case.
Aki: But she needs retesting because somethingfs wrong, doesnft she?
Dr. Sato: Itfs a retest to get rid of all anxieties.
Aki: Yes.
Aki hangs up the phone.
Ayako: Ifm home. Whatfs wrong?
Aki: Nothing.
Junfichiro: Welcome. Sakutaro, Akiyoshi canft make it to camp anymore.
Sakutaro: What?
Junfichiro: Ryunosuke called and said that hefs going to be taken to the head temple by his father.
Sakutaro: What is that?! (looking at his father) Does that work?
Junfichiro: Hmm?
Sakutaro: Is your hair going to grow doing that?
Junfichiro: The hair thatfs fallen off wonft go back, right? So, the only thing left to do is for the rest of the guys to try their best.
Sakutaro: The rest of the guysctry their best.
Phone conversation between Aki and Sakutaro
Aki: Hello.
Sakutaro: Aki?
Aki: Saku-chan?
Sakutaro: I just put a cassette tape about tomorrow in your mail box.
Aki: Ifm sorry, Saku-chan. I might not be able to go.
Sakutaro: What?!
Aki: My temperature wonft drop.
Sakutaro: Really?!
Aki: Ifm sorry. Ifm really sorry.
Sakutaro: Thatfs OK. We can go some other time. Get well soon.
Aki: Thanks.
Sakutaro: See you.
Sakutarofs voice: How are you doing? The thing iscTomoyo and Bozu canft make it to the camp tomorrow. I know youfve wanted to go with the guys. Ifm sorry. But Ifm going to prepare a lot to make it a fun camp, and Ifm giving this preparation 120% of my power so that your slight fever wonft be a big problem. So come without any worries.
Tomiko: Saku! Whatfs this?! Youfve got a phone call. Hey, wake up. Phone call!
Sakutaro (on the phone): Hello.
Ryunosuke: What are you doing, Saku? Wefll be doing dirty things if you donft come.
Sakutaro: What?
Aki: Good morning, Saku-chan.
Ryunosuke: Ifm sorry about the other day. Because of me, your racec
Aki: Welcome home, Ohki-kun.
Ryunosuke: You two say the same things.
Aki: The same with whom?
Sakutaro: Ifm sorry to have kept you two waiting.
Akifs note: Mom, Ifm sorry.
Aki: Saku-chan, are you planning on opening a seaside clubhouse?
Sakutaro: Oh no! I forgot the fire-crackers!
Ryunosuke: When Ifm done with making the rooms ready, Ifll be gone.
Sakutaro: What?! Youfre going?!
Ryunosuke: Shh. Donft you think this is a chance you rarely get? Thatfs right. You two are alone. Ifll put it under the pillow.
Aki: Hey, is this the hotel? Hey?
Sakutaro: This is amazing.
Sakutaro: Wow.
Aki: Look, a cave! gThis is a etime-post.f Would you like to write a letter to someone in the future?h
Sakutaro: Is this like a time capsule?
Aki: Yeah. If you had put it in here, I guess someone would have sent it a few years later.
Sakutaro: Are you OK?
Aki: Ifm fine.
Sakutaro: Aki, youfve been fainting a lot these days, arenft you?
Aki: Saku-chan, IcI want to swim.
Aki: Is it alright to ask Ohki-kun to clean up?
Sakutaro: Itfs OK. Itfs our promise for today.
Aki: Still, Ifm going to go help him out.
Sakutaro: You want to be with Suke-chan rather than me.
Aki: Saku! Letfs go. Come on, Saku!
Sakutaro: Why do you want to get buried in the sand?
Aki: Donft you know gsand bathh? Itfs good for dietingcDonft do weird things.
Aki: Put effort into it.
Sakutaro: I think the tide is in.
Ryunosukefs note: My dad found out that I took out the boat without telling him. Ifll come pick you two up tomorrow morning. Ryunosuke Ohki
Aki: Saku-chan, Saku-chan, Saku!
Sakutaro: What?
Aki: Saku-chan, look! Ohki-kun went home!
Dr. Sato: Did Miss Hirose contact us?
Nurse: This isnft a good sign, is it?
Sakutaro: You donft need to do that.
Aki: Ifll help.
Sakutaro: Thatfs OK.
Aki: Butc
Sakutaro: Please. Donft do it.
Sakutaro: Hot ginger water, it will make your body warmcYou donft like it?
Aki: I love it.
Ayako: What happened?
Makoto: Wherefs Aki? Whatfs she doing?
Ayako: Her temperature rose again.
Makoto: Shefs been having this fever for a long time. She used to be so healthy without even a single cold.
Ayako: Wait. Shefs sleeping.
Makoto: Ifm just going to leave this in her bedroom.
Ayako: Shefll hate you if you go into her room without her permission.
Makoto: Right, then, can you give this to her. I think this will be interesting for her. Ifll be back by 8.
Aki: This is good, Saku-chan. Youfre amazing!
Sakutaro: Grandpa used to work me hard.
Aki: Your Grandpafs grand.
Aki: That was delicious.
Sakutaro: If we get married, would we be like this every day?
Aki: What?
Sakutaro: What?
Aki: Saku-chan, are you going to get married to me?
Sakutaro: Aki, you arenft planning to? Am I merely a passing point for you?
Aki: No, youfre not. But there are things we want to do before that, right? Like our jobs? I want to make picture books.
Sakutaro: Are you going to draw picture books?
Aki: Ifm bad at drawing pictures.
Sakutaro: Oh,
Aki: But I guess I can be an editor. Ifll go to countries all over the world and search for legends and folktales and poems. Is that weird?
Sakutaro: No, it suits you.
Aki: Really? How about you? Donft you have dreams?
Sakutaro: I havenft given it that much thought but recently, I think I understand why my dad took over the photo studio business. Itfs a wonderful job to be able to help others save their memories, isnft it? Too plain?
Aki: No, it suits you a lot.
Sakutaro: But if that happens then we will only be able to see each other for once a month or so. Oh, I know! I can follow you with a camera. But running a photo studio and becoming a photographer seems a little different.
Aki: I like you, Saku-chan.
Sakutaro: Whatfs wrong?
Aki: Letfs do it.
Sakutaro: What?
Aki: Therefs only one thing we can do at this kind of place. The gtime-posth!
Sakutaro: Dear Aki Hirose in the future, um, I just said Hirose but is your surname still Hirose? I hope it is Matsumoto. But youfre the only child in the family and I have a younger sister so should I be the one changing the surname to Hirose? Anyway, I wish to live everyday like today, spending quiet days with you.
Aki: Whatfs wrong with me?
Sakutaro: Aki. Itfs your turn. Well, who cares?
Aki: Did I surprise you?
Sakutaro: A lot.
Aki: Itfs a punishment for lying.
Sakutaro: What?
Aki: You deliberately planned for this.
Sakutaro: Anyway, here.
Sakutarofs voice: Dear Aki Hirose in the futurec
Aki: Did you really record such an embarrassing message?
Sakutaro: You act really mean when it comes to these things.
Aki: Do you believe in the afterlife?
Sakutaro: I want to believe in it.
Aki: I see.
Sakutaro: What about you?
Aki: I canft believe in it.
Sakutaro: Why not?
Aki: It seems to me that the people who are left here in this world made it. It seems like a world that people hope that exists.
Sakutaro: You donft seem like the kind of person who turns to God in trouble.
Aki: But it would be bad if God doesnft exist.
Sakutaro: What do you mean?
Aki: Someone has to control luckiness and unluckiness.
Sakutaro: Whatfs that?
Aki: When someone is really happy, that person often becomes extremely unhappy next, right? Donft you think that the amount of luckiness and unluckiness in onefs life are made to cancel each other out in the end?
Sakutaro: So, the one who controls that is God?
Aki: RightcSaku-chan, Saku-chan, IcWhat are you doing?
Sakutaro: I asked God to give my quota of luck to you. I donft mind unluckiness. You seem to have more dreams that you wish would come true than me.
Aki: I like you, Saku-chan.
Aki: Itfs ringing. The phonefs ringing.
Sakutaro: Aki, I really donft hear anything.
Aki: Saku-chan, are you hard of hearing?
Aki: Itfs amazingcFireflies only live on earth for 7 days. What are the chances of actually being able to see this?...Ifm happy. Why am I so happy? I canft help but think that somethingfs going to happen: like someonefs going to get sick or someonefs going to die. I really canft help but think that somethingfs going to happen.
Sakutaro: Nothing will happen. Thatfs not going to happen for sure.
Sakutaro (monologue): I had no idea why Aki was crying. But the firefly that stopped on Akifs shoulder, disappeared unnoticed.
Sakutaro: I guess it wasnft such a happy story.
Aki Kobayashi: I think she put a cassette tape in the gtime-post.h If it were me, I guess I want that to be heard. Well, Ifm going now. Letfs go, Kazuki.
Kazuki: Isnft Saku coming with us?
Aki Kobayashi: What? No, hefs not.
Sakutaro: Kobayashi! Thank you very much.
Kazuki: Whatfs wrong, Mom?
Aki Kobayashi: What? I was thinking that there should only be one gAkih.
Sakutaro (monologue): I went over to Yumejima thinking that the tape wouldnft be there 99%. The deserted island that no one has touched has not changed a bit which was even eerie. It looked like an entrance to the world of death.
Akifs voice: Dear Sakutaro Matsumoto in the future, Saku-chan, I know now. Happiness is very plain and simple. Itfs you and me. I think happiness is the kind of every day life like that. Thatfs why I wish, like yesterday, I wish to hold hands with you forevercI lead you by my hand and you lead our childfs hand by your hand. Like that, I wish to walk with you.
Sakutaro (monologue): Akifs voice was ragged. It was the voice that was left behind all alone from the flow of time. It was the voice that no one tried to listen, that never reached anywhere. It was the voice that I tried to throw away. The time is going back to when I blamed myself that I was the one who damaged Aki.
Sakutaro: Aki, Aki!

Welcome to the forum Sunny_Snowy.
That is quite a translation, just curious how long it took
you to do it?
The translators could do with it if you allow it and they are just up
to translate ep 5

Thank you! It took about 5 hours to do it. But it was really fun. I enjoyed it a lot.
I wasn't aware that there were already translators doing it. I hope I didn't step into their already established work. If so, please let me know and I wouldn't post them anymore.
Also, if someone would like to use my translation, I would be more than happy to give it to them. But since I'm really new to this forum, I don't know how the system works.
I also did another translation for episode 6 today.
Since I'm on spring break now, I've got so much time on my hands
For this one, I translated the dialogues and put descriptions of the scenes as well, so that people who have never watched the show could get the gist out of it.
I will post episode 6, too, but again if someone is doing translation of this show and doesn't feel happy about me putting these on board, do let me know because I will stop doing it.
Thanks for the nice comments.

IMHO drama is better than movie (from the first 4 eps) so I recommend the movie first. I saw the movie after watching the first 2 eps of the drama and didn't find the movie that good.

I've already contacted sunny_snowy when i saw her first translations for episode 5. hopefully she is not too busy later to finish up the whole series (including translations for episodes 1-4). I want to release a top notch version with her translations. I already have the dvds too. _________________

I have been disappointed by the movie, 2h its not enough lol
The story is so fast (well its a movie so..) we have no time to know the characters of Aki and Saku younger...
I dont know if this question has been asked already (didnt read all of ur posts :
Do u know if there is the novel 'sekai no chushin de ai wo sakebu' translated in english somewhere? I tried to find it on the net, but my search failed, my japanese friend doesnt know too -_-
