i absolutely loved 'kill bill'. one and two. two may not have had as much action as one, but the story was very suspenseful and enjoyable.

i don't think anyone else mentioned this in the thread, but this is what i heard: the b&w effect was a MUST in order to attain an 'R' rating in america. according to what i heard, if that part was not in b&w, it was not going to make it to the theaters.
i have the japanese version (or the international version - whatever you wanna call it) of v1 and it is in FULL-COLOR! awesome!!

Yeah, I got that version as well, jholic.
I really liked both volumes.
I heard that the cast for Tarantino's next flick, which is set in WWII, called, if I'm not mistaken, Inglorious Bastards, might include none other than Schwarzenegger (I guess he'd have to fit filming in between governating) and Stallone, in addition to some of Tarantino's regulars, Mike Madsen, et al. Should be good.
Gonna catch Sin City w/my crew tonight. Read the comics 'long time ago. Should be good, too.

I think so. Wasn't there an Italian film called that, as well? We'll see. Tarantino wanted to (still wants to?) re-do the 007 film Casino Royale, so, maybe he's got the remake bug.
In a way, 'racer, I agree -- 'specially having grown up in Hawai'i, getting more than my fair share [as a lot of my U.S. mainland and international friends remind me] of wu xia, chambarra, and tokusatsu flicks -- Tarantino borrows. But, man, his films are too great.

Yeah, that's my point: to the most of the non-Asian masses, this is cool, radical, amazing stuff... But to us who grew up on The One Armed Swordsman, The Five Venoms, etc. this is old hat.

Has anyone seen Sin City yet? I really liked it, but it's probably not for everyone. It's highly stylized, with 50's pulp/noir acting, and tons of pornographic violence. It was very true to the graphic novels it was based on.

The part that brought the house down when I saw it was when Hartigan rips the Yellow Bastard's penis off...and dirs. Miller and Rodriguez actually showed it. I read the graphic novel "That Yellow Bastard," but even I was unprepared for it. After an initial shock though, it got cheers. I mean, the Yellow Bastard was an evil pedophile. _________________

That's what the L.A. Times said... It looks stylish, but I'm hesitant.

I think my gf was mad at me...she uh...didn't seem to like the violence. She didn't talk at all on the way home. I did tell her it was really violent beforehand, but I guess that didn't work .

Well, if you're leaning on the fence, I'd say: see it. Even if you hate it, I think you'll still get something out of it, especially if you were a fan of Frank Miller.

Heh...remember that the violence is also stylized...so that takes some of the punch out of it. Some of the blood is white, some of it is black, or yellow. I think it's only red in a few scenes. _________________

I saw Sin City again today. I think I was more impressed the second time around than the first in what was accomplished cinematically. _________________
