so finally did he sue for defamation or something or just leave it there ??

I have no idea.

I'll bet lawyers are beating his door down to get some of that action, though...

Big businesses are fascist...it's okay for upper management to be unethical...but as soon as it's a grunt employee or customer, they try to break out all the zeig heil legal stops.

You know...I really would have expected that comment somewhere other than a police officer from Baltimore....

It seems as though no one at Best Buy gives a damn about what happened to the dignity of this man that they wrongfully humiliated.

As much as I despise sue jobs, (IMO) this is a legitamate one that has to be persued. Twisted

Yeah, that is stupid. Doesn't make any sense really. How would paying with a sort of rare legal tender be considered post-911 suspicious activity????? I really don't understand why he was arrested. I know sometimes when you are suspected of something, even before proven innocent, they do have to cuff ya. But leg shackles??????????????? What. the. f***. And cuffed to a pole? What is that all about? Crazy

I wish he had gone in and paid with a bunch of Susan B. Anthony's, Sacajewea's (spelling?), or Kennedy 50 cent pieces. $2 bills are totally legal tender and they can't refuse them. The only times they can refuse legal tender is if they don't have change to break it, such as a $100 bill and there is no way to finish the transaction, or if the bills or coins are mutilated (ripped bills missing the other piece, or coins where identification is scraped beyond visibility). Even then, banks exchange mutilated tender as well. We'd collect them until they reached about $150-$200 and submit them. Same with counterfeit, we'd fill out a claim form and submit them for reimbursement too.

I was a bank teller for a year. People used to come in and ASK for these types of tender. People collect them because they aren't minted anymore! It's no big deal, banks will exchange them with no problem and hand you cash back.
