haha .. out here i got a friend who bought one of all those all in one things .. has a computer, radio, cd player, tv tuner n all in one small box ... is actually kindda neat .. but oh man ... it sounds like a ferrari when the hard disks and fan are having there time ..
me personally ... i have a ibm thinkpad .. not a supercomputer but for a laptop i think it serves me very well.
1.7 ghz
60gb
512 ddr
ATI radeon 9600 with 64 mb dedicated
resolution upto 1400x1050
battery life of 6hr
and all the ibm machine security systems on board.
what i really luv in the machine is the keyboard .. the BEST i must say, very very soft and keys have this ergonomic shape for each key and the second thing is the hard disk protection system ... stops the disk at any shudder or shock.

Have started on the new system. So far have ordered:
1. Seasonic 600W power supply
2. Lian-Li PC-52 minitower aluminum case
Got the Seasonic in the mail from NewEgg already. NewEgg rocks. Had to order the Lian-Li from a 2nd vendor, the 1st vendor I tried, pcToyland, took my money and didn't send the product. Had to yell at them repeatedly to get them to cancel the order and refund my credit card.

I would think a 600 watt PSU would be overkill for a desktop system, coz multiprocessor servers with 5 disk arrays usually ship w/ 500w PSUs...
eniway, i only have a 350watts PSU to go with 3 hd/2opticals/P4/RADEON 9600. I was planning on doing my next upgrade this year (usually every 2 years)... was eagerly awaiting those AMD dual cores but got bummed out when i learned the msrp for the cheapest dualcore chip is $500+. way too much... i was hoping it was gonna be around the same price range as intel's dual cores at $240+...
oh well, i guess i have to wait a while longer for prices to come down to earth... hehehe. _________________

Yep, I have built countless servers, I know. I'm with ya on the pricing, saw that today. The 4400+ looks like $581.
Was thinking of dual 6800 Ultras, a couple of WD Raptors... that's going to take some serious horse power.

Yea go Intel! I'm definately going to get my hands on one of those when they're released. Win XP xt64 releases this coming Monday too! But first I'm dying to try out an Extreme Edition. If only I could convince my intel sales rep to give me one as a demo

Yeah, thsoe artists thread moves pretty fast. hard to keep up, hehehe.
eniway, back to topic...
always liked AMD but i got burned on via chipsets.... so i switched to intel platform on my last upgrade. AMD really has great processors, its the chipsets that's bringing them down especially before the memory controller wasnt part of the processor... VIA 4in1 is a nightmare. hehehe. nforce3 has problems with usb implementation but it looks like they fixed it on nforce4... but cool'n'quiet support is a hit'n'miss kinda deal right now... _________________
