even tho Takayanagi is not a likeable character.. dun disagree with the things he said abt biz world (except his view on aristocrat & slaves...errrrr tats bit extreme..) ..
would be interesting to see how both of them influence each other as the story progresses

i'm completely smitten, yup, the restaurant scene & the final scene at Takayanagi's apt are superb. like his scene in the apt better, coz i think he is rite in that "speed" speech, and I actually quite like the toy planet idea... shame shame. I'm already thinking in the Takanayagi mode
i'm confused too by Takayanagi's relationship w/ the women. Is he a womanizer? I was kinda thinking (subjectively & foolishly) Kaori's sleep-over was because she was helping out with his work? but later in the Spanish bar, Shimao was so upset and asked the bartender why she didn't tell him that Takayanagi & Kaori were going out? She said, "so what?" So, I guess Takayanagi & Kaori are really a couple?
So, he's been fooling around w/ the devil secretary?!
I am actually kinda intrigued by his relationship w/ his ex, Nanami. Very interesting thread here, although their relation is supposed to be purely professional now, Takayanagi seems so much at ease when they are alone, & Nanami seems to read thru his mind, and in his apt, Nanami looks very much at home... interesting...very mature kinda relationship, ne? I look this. I am too wondering about the bet between them. Could the bet be that Nanami thinks despite the money & all, she bets Shimao won't be *transformed*? But Takayanagi insists money can do everything, including the transformation of Shimao from this nice young man to become another version of himself? Too early to tell.

he has not been forward looking when he decides to do the auction system on the old toys? he has let his feelings (ie. his sympathy towards the toy shop owner) took over his biz judgment
noticed tat Nanami asked tat Takayanagi intention is to "Mono ni naru.." Shimao .. wat does this mean?
change Shimao into a thing? ie. someone with no feelings like Takayanagi?
or to become someone whom he controls ie. someone who'll listen to watever he says

find the tone he used & his pronunciation here is slightly different from the past, the words r more clearly pronunced here leh... or maybe its only me
noticed this coz i always hve problem understanding his parts in the past
find tat he speaks faster & less clear than most pple like eg. Takuya

Nikyy~ i also got the feeling! He spoke slower and actually clearer in KOI NI, did he do it on purpose? Cos i realised when he was Koda, he speaks DAMN FAST! nod x 100, Takayanagi is SO MUCH MORE fun, especially when we can actually catch what he says, well, at least sometimes for me! I can understand why Koda speaks like that: abrupt, robot-like... but why Kirihara has to speak very quickly too?
nod x 100, the quick speech between Kirihara & Morino is one of the best scenes, the speech is proved to be even quick for native Japanese!

Agree, Toru is never soft. He is calculated & full of confidence. Soft-spoken maybe, but never soft.
The champagne drinking ritual, yes, does it have to be so frequent? Even when Toru is so successful and able to enjoy life? I'd just like the scriptwriter cut out this little bs... but of course I do enjoy watching Shin chan sipping champagne, so sexy.
I actually wanna see him wear outfits other than that suit and white shirt sometimes...

The bet is definitely something about the transformation of Shimao: the good natured Shimao vs money-minded Shimao. This is basically what the drama is all about and it is the contrast the drama scriptwriter has tried so hard to establish.
See the champagne drinking vs the aristocrat/slave speech?
Shimao's home in lower-class area of Tokyo vs Toru's high-rise expensive apt?
Shimao & Kaori vs Toru & Kaori?
Remember the Spanish bar scene when the bartender asked Shimao how much his watch cost & how much she told her Kami's watch cost? And how much his T-shirt cost compared to that of the outfit the devil secretary wears?
This is all about the contrast. It's building up in episode 2 and will get intensified in episode 3, when Shimao gets even more smitten with Kaori but realises that she is just way beyond his league.
Kaori & Toru, a couple? I am still unconvinced...unless they wanna portray Takayanagi as a womanizer.

It's too early to tell about Shin chan's performance. In these 2 episodes, he is still somewhat second lead; he 's in only 3 scenes. But he looks very much different, I dunno, apart from being older & a little burnt out, he is somewhat more at ease...
I can't tell how much different he speaks, except that I can catch some of his phrases this time (I thought my Japanese is improving, shame shame )
