4GB file size max for individual files.
The FAT32 4GB file size limit applies to ALL drives formatted using FAT32 not just C.
And doesnt fat32 only allow like 40gb or something around that per partition? I remember when I got my 120gb HD and fat32 wouldn't let me split one side into a 80gb partition. Pissed me off so I went to ntsf. Especially with my 250gb, fat32 is pretty much useless.

FAT32 is a very bad filesystem to use. The only reason it should exists is for compatibility with the 95/98/Me Windows Series.
Unlike NTFS, FAT32 has absolutely no idea of file ownership and access control lists. Hence, in Linux-speak, everyone is root (i.e. Administrator). NTFS is Microsoft's attempts to shift Windows from a single-user OS to a multi-user OS, like Linux. They should have used NTFS years ago. It would have stopped viruses, trojans, worms, and the like from infecting the Windows core.
Of course, if you always surf the net using an Administrator-class account, NTFS's security features won't be able to help you. If you get infected, your whole computer is basically now controlled by the offending program. That is why you should never use an Administrator account for daily use, instead use a Limited User account, and switch to Administrator only when very necessary. This is, and always has been, the standard procedure in UNIX and UNIX-class operating systems.

32GB max per partition. I guess no one reads my posts.
I do. And the 32GB limit for FAT32 is only imposed in Win2K and XP. If you format it under 98 (I believe SE) and ME, it will allow bigger partitions. That's how the external drives are typically formatted.

Yup, FAT32 is good for inter OS compatibility. NTFS on Linux is buggy at best but improving and NTFS cannot be read on Macs (if you need to). But MS decided for us that partitions larger than 32GB should be in NTFS and thus removed the option to format it in FAT32.

Wow, my brother's incredible foresight should be commended...
Yow, I musta jinxed myself about Win2KSP4 stability: I ran Microsoft Update which included a new version of Windows Installer 3.1 and it promptly hosed my McAfee Antivirus software ("Failed To Load Required Resource DLLs")...

So much for updates being helpful.
McAfee, in the corporate world, has been the most unstable AV software that I've used.
