yeah you're right the trains stop running at midnight, some around 1 am so unless you're going to stay out for the long haul, be prepared for an expensive cab ride or get crunked until the sun comes up and then take the first train home.
my 2 cents on this subject...is plan wisely and if you're only there for a short period of time, you might wanna pass on stayin out until the wee hours...but if you're going to be there for 2 weeks or more...you gotta party all night at LEAST ONCE.
just hook up with ladies and party...i'm sure you wouldn't want to go home early after that, kids.
yeah, four days in toyko, that is not enough time to party and club with the hot j-girls of shibuya/roppongi. trying to squeeze in japan in a week is tough on a budget, but i am going to try my best.
yeah, if i were out there hangin' with the ladies, don't think i would come back to the hotel anytime soon, heehh. . it's party time!!!

I understand, especially given how expensive tokyo is but to be honest there were restaurants/bars that i went to that weren't off the wall expensiive for beer or what not...i mean not any more off the wall than some places in new york or even l.a....but if you can't go clubbing at LEAST go drinking (if that's your thing) so you can potentially meet girls or what not, or ppl in general. then you don't have to stay out forever and worry about getting back to the hotel. walking around shibuya or roppongi at night is just too dayem cool to miss! all the ppl the energy...that shiet is like a natural drug and is just so impressive because you don't see crowds like that on foot here in the states, new york being the possible exception but it's still no where near tokyo density.

I"m so feeling with u only going for 2 weeks.... it must be very hard to get all you want in those 2 weeks. For me it's just a bit easiers since I have about 3 weeks up to my own planning of which 6 days in Tokyo. So I can waste a night being drunk and having a hangover. Too bad my hotel (youthhostel) has a curfew at 11:00 -_- So Going out definately means stayin thru the night. Probably even when being at a bar. Anyway, I'd love to try out one of them capsules _________________

well, actually not 2 weeks, i am leaving to go to japan in less than two weeks, the whole trip is actually a week, less than that if you don't count the first day of air travel and time change, but i figure that it is close to a $100 a night at decent hotels, with private bath/toilet. Other hotels, esp nicer ones, run upwards of $140 and up, which is out of my price range. Staying mostly in hotels, but got a ryokan in kyoto at a budget price w/private bath/toilet, i was happy about that one. Yeah, curious on the capsule hotels, think they got quite a few in shinjuku, look them up at www.jef.com or www.japan-guide.com, might be under accomodations. Curfew? yeah heard bout' them in hostels, couldn't stand for a curfew and shared bathrooms, but it is cheaper. Also curious on how love hotels look like, good to bring your girl, but would rather stay at a nice place instead.

yeah, probably going to skip out on the late night clubbin' but as far as bars go, we are definitely going to be doing some good drinkin' and checking out the scene in Shibuya. That would be cool to meet some nice j-girls, but don't expect anything, but just some simple conversation and fun. Probably have to break out the j-phrase translation book and practice my very limited japanese on them. Yeah, agree with you there, the massive amounts of people in shibuya/shinjuku, is amazing. Also heard about the summer-roof top all you can drink beer parties, forgot what they were called. somethin' like for 3000 yen, you can get all you can eat/drink, guess for japan that is an avg price eh? not sure what the scene is like in ropponggi/shibuya bars, didn't get the chance to check it out last time.

Yeah it's staggering. It's definitely an eye-opener for someone like me who isn't used to seeing about 4-5 thousand ppl all crossing the street at shibuya crossing at the same time! check out this short video that I downloaded from this guy's japan photo blog:

that is HELLA cheap....i don't drink as much as i used to but for a lush like me that's a dream come true. that comes out to about 28 dollars U.S. at today's rates....ridiculously cheap...if you were to go to a bar here and order beers at 4 to 5 dollars a pop it puts it in perspective.

dude, it's mindboggling...there is a bar, restaurant or club to fit whatever mood you are in...it's something that living in the states doesn't approach and is just so awesome...from the traditional to the ultra-modern looks, it's all there.

i cannot remember the name of the rooftop beer parties that they have in the summertime in Japan, yeah for $28, all you can eat and drink, i can get my money's worth. heard they get pretty packed out though.
so, when you going to make another trip out to japan? did you get a chance to check out the rooftop beer parties or whatever they are called?
another thing i am going to take a pix a lot of is the "vending machines", their drinks are awesome!, and they got beer vending machines, and other interesting ones. heard about the myth of the j-girl panty ones, that is strange.
i just remember when i was in tokyo, there are people everywhere and i would like to take a few video shoots of the sprawling people and lifestyles of tokyo.

dunno when i'll get a chance to go again...but soon hopefully! hmmm...i didn't check out any of those parties per se, but you might be able to catch that now that the weather is warm...i went in fall so it was too cold probably! yeah they have a myriad number of soft drinks....the beer vending machines exist but there aren't as many as one would think....i did take a pic of one tho....that panty shiet is no longer now from an article i read in some japanese newspaper...that's fuggin' disgusting any way....i won't even wanna take a picture of that shiet...it might break my camera.
for those beer party affairs try the ebisu area in tokyo...they must have some there.

heard that japan has millions of vending machines, mostly drink ones. Hot drinks in the winter, cold ones in the summer, warmer months. at 110 yen a drink, that can add up. I have seen Ramen ones at the business hotels, just pull the string and instant noodle, something like that. Cigarette ones, candy, beer ones. I heard of egg/vegetable/rice vending machines, p*rn vending machines, ticket ones where you can bring it to the cashier and redeem for actual meals, probably got manga vending machines. But that one above, that's a first i ever saw, and super strange and kinda sick, guess those j-salary men have their HS girl fetishes.
There ya go, Qilver: just camp out in front of one of those with your camera ready...
these frick'in machines are pathetically sick, but my friends would get a kick out of them, thought they banned these suckers. I think if they had a "Nana" vending machine, i would be spending a lot on it, but that is just in my dreams.

What's so sick about them? That they sell "personal" things? Then what about condom dispensers? I think condoms are more shamefull sortof then panties. Except for that it depends what the purposed customers are. If those panties are ment for perverted men then it's kinda sick. But u can't prove they are anyhow _________________

Sick in that some of these machines tout that they are selling used high school girls underwear to appeal to perverts with weird fetishes....i'm sure you agree that's wack desu.

yeah, that's wacked dude, vending machines selling that kind of stuff, now if it just clean regular underwear, women might buy it, but i think we all know it was meant to appeal to the sukebe's(perv's) in japan, and to even think it was used panties, that is sick...

ya got a point there, condoms could be more shameful, and if they are sellin' clean regular womens panties, like i said in my post below, other women could've just bought some, just like men/women buying condoms from the vending machine. And i heard they got tons of porn vending machines there as well, and i only heard about the myth/truth? that it was used hs girl panties that they were sellin in those vending machines catering to the perverted people out there. If that be the case, we can all agree, they're sickos......
other than that, that is the first pix that was posted that i've seen showing a panty vending machine, it was amusing, but quite strange, thought they were only a myth, guess not...

the whole pantie thing is FRONT TO BACK, WHACK....enough said.
ok, looking at the map of tokyo, and Shinagawa is on the bottom of the Yamanote loop, sorta. How far is the train ride to the other areas, Shinagawa to Shibuya, Shinagawa to Shinjuku, and Shinagawa to Akihabara by train? and idea how long it takes when you went?
don't want to even think about it during the crazy rush hour on the trains in Tokyo...
