Hi Sabura... I don't think I can help you with your ticket, but please try this link for your accomodation: http://www.hihostels.com. You can book shared rooms or bedrooms for 1 person and it's all really cheap. I got myself a dormroom booked for 6 nights -> 1.7000\ about 150$? A friend of mine booked a private room which cousted the double, which is still cheap. _________________

thanks for the info. The JR network, does it go straight to Shinagawa station from Narita airport? read in a book that the JR-X leave times are not as frequent as the other two that leave from Narita.
The limo-bus, i took before and had plenty of luggage storage, what about the train? will it be cramped and everything. I plan on carrying a suitcase and backpack.
It leaves every hour (or 30 minutes during peak times). Here is more information about the N'EX, including timetables:

yeah staying in a hostel is way cheaper than the typical hotel rooms ranging from $100 on up per night, and a week could run upwards near a $1000, ouch!
but for 6 nights/$150, that is $25 per night, that is a bargain!, but i couldn't stand the community bathrooms, curfews and crowdness, rather pay the higher prices, than deal with that. But atleast it will save you lots of $$$ when you go.

single bedrooms probably dont have curfews(or later curfews). For me being among the people is a pro. But everybody has their own likes ofcourse... _________________

yeah, save lots of it for the beer, which are also available from vending machines, not sure how much yen? are they always on, 24-7?
yeah...seriously the vending machines are more of a curiousity, hit the bars....there is no such thing as last call in japan, like in california.
i also loved being able to walk around the airport drinking a beer like it was no thang....i did it, just for the hell of it, cuz i know you can't pull that shiet at LAX.
yeah about the curfews... whats that all about? the hotels I looked at don't have any..
But I don't want to stay at a hotel in Toyko, I think thats why it's like $2000 for the flight+Hotel.
that $2000 is expensive!, just for hotel/airfare alone, for one person. Are you planning on staying just a week or two? Two would be even more.
I think most business-hotels are cheaper, sometimes around 6000 yen per night, but you'll have to research that online. Ryokans run from 4000 yen on up, depending on location, and some include food, but that is extra. Hostels are the cheapest way to go per night, if you don't mind the shared bathrooms, crowds, curfews, if you don't mind that, look into it, it'll save some $$$. I think they impose curfews so it won't disturb the others in the dorms. Perhaps they must've had prb's in the past. For cost reasons, avoid finer hotels, unless you get lucky, and find a good one at a good price.

was checkin' the tourbooks i have on tokyo/japan, and there are some good bars in Roponggi/Shibuya that i want to check out. Hopefully there will be some nice j-girls around, if not, then atleast it'll be cool just to hang with my friend and have a few beers in Japan. No last calls eh? excellent. I remember the last time i was in the Shinagawa at the hotel i was staying at, some j-girls and one j-guy were totally tipsy and laughing loud at the hotel, i guess that is common to see eh? I just thought it was entertaining.

yeah but it's gotta be because the hotels are in Toyko.
maybe I will try checking about going to another airport in japan.

the main one for int'l flights is Narita, the other one is Kaneda...or is it kansei, which is for domestic flights within Japan, and the third one is near Kyoto/Osaka area. Not sure which one you are thinking, but I believe your only option is to fly into Narita, if you are planning on visiting/staying in the Tokyo area.

the domestic airport is actually "haneda" but ur right....can't fly into that one from abroad.
there's that new airport in the nagoya area...but ur right that's still pretty far from tokyo. narita or bust, yo.

yeah had the option of flying in to osaka area, whatever the airport is called, or Narita, i chose Narita, wanted to get a feel for going thru tokyo on my way to Kyoto, on the shinkansen.
yeah I think your right.. I will check when I have some free time.. Trying to type up a good Resume.
resume, for your job right? think we are talkin' about airfares...anyhow good luck with the job search, not sure how good the market is out there thesedays. flying from the east coast, sounds more expensive, see if you can catch one of those special fares from NY area to Tokyo, try JAL or Singapore, JAL is good, heard singapore airlines is good too, not sure on the others, but those two are the most expensive, prices around for airfare, but to get the JR-Rail pass, you have to probably get that thru the travel agency in person.

you made the right choice, sir. the only thing that sux about narita is that it's hella far away from the city center...but if you take the train in you should be straight...my boy and i took the bus so we wouldn't have to carry our luggage on the train...we f*cked up...cuz we arrived on friday local time tokyo and the traffic made l.a. traffic look country!!! it sucked...we took hella forever to get to our hotel in roppongi hills...by the time we got off that sucker and checked in....even though we were wiped the hell out ...we went out to go get our drink on...dayem that muthaf*ckin' beer was one of the best i ever had in my life after all that drama.
the shinkansen is dope by the way it felt like we were floating....so fast and smooth...it was cool.
