trust me, the japanese are fanatical about quality and their love for food and wine is no exception.....japan has some of the best restaurants in the world.....like two of a kind in the whole world restaurants....where one will be in france and the other is in tokyo.....that type of shiet is not uncommon.
after travelling there...i realized this if there is something ANYWHERE in the world that has a significant brand name due to quality or popularity or prestige or whatever....if you couldn't get in japan even though it's imported...you be hard pressed to get it anywhere unless it comes from the source.
Wow you did really good this time IMO just forget the biiru part, your pronounciation of asahi is very good now. If you really want biiru, the tough part is always the 'r' sound. It is like a slap of the tongue to the place were normally your tongue is when you say an L. I think if you say "Ballistic" very fast, your tongue will make such a movement at the LL part. If it really doesn't work out, just make it BiiLu. The Japanese will accept any L as their special "r". - Oh and don't forget the long sound of ii. If you say "biru" it will be understood as "building". (It is the Japanese short version of "birudin'gu".
Japanese pronounciation is just a very few basics. Namely the sound of the A I U E O and R sounds, and special cases "HI" and "FU". For the rest all the other sounds are very intuitive: K, G, S, Z, T, D, N, H, P, B, M, Y, W and the sound "n". It is actually not very challenging. _________________

Btw, does anyone have a bad experience carrying mp3's and divx over the Japanese (or whatever country's) border? Ofcourse I'd like bringing some subtitled drama's over to my homestay family and some dvd's with my music on it. I'm not sure if it's illegal actually, since you are allowed to have "copies" for personal use. You can also watch it at somebody else's place, as long as you don't lend it or give it to people. I'm just not sure how it works when crossing borders. Anyone? _________________

greetings to the J-dorama community from Shinagawa-tokyo, Japan.
It is great to be back in Japan, and of course i am so loving it here. Saw so much, some in Kyoto, took the shinkasen, and now staying in Shinagawa, visited the Park Hyatt hotel in Shinjuku(Lost in Translation), Imperial Palace, Akihabara-Otaku Heaven(one day is not enough, seriously), going back on Saturday. Nakano, another area for otaku( like myself), it is also J-idol heaven. Just got to know where to look for it.
Tons of Yu Yamada in stores, along with Aya-chan, and others. Took over 300 pix so far. Tomorrow planning on seeing Sensoji temple in Asakusa, maybe Roppongi, Shinjuku. Btw: visit Shibuya to see the kogals, Gangaru(tanned girls with brown hair), and go to the building 109, and if you dare take some pix of them.
so much to do, so litle time, seriously, a week is not enough, but it is expensive, but the food, places, and j-girls are a taste of heaven.
so loving it here, wish i had another few weeks, would visit more in Kyoto, and maybe a week in other areas, and maybe another week in tokyo. Serious, a day in Akihabara alone would not be enough, highrise buildings with 6 to 7 stories tall of anime/j-idol stuff, along with electronics. But making the most of it here, and the J-girls are so damn hot here. they are everywhere, even tried to take some pix.
haven:t seen rina much, maybe some aya ueto, lots of Yu Yamada on advertisments, and one or more of Ryoko yonekura. All i can say is Sugoi!!! when i think of this place. Only minor complaint, is that it rained the other day in Kyoto while viewing some of the temples, other than that the weather is ok, not as warm back home, but the j-girlies make up for it. Also, never seen so many japanese highschool girls before, there is this lolita complex with them, mainly with the japanse salarymen here.
Just thought it was interesting.

Anyplace I have a internet Connection.
It's 2.6 cents. Lol... if you're confused by zero's, start with $1.00 is one dollar > $ 0.1 would be 10 cents > $ 0.01 would be 1 cent etc.. _________________
