Aaaaah... That really confuse me then Everytime when I couldn't access it, I will hear that some people who say they can... I have a friend who told me that he has no problem with it at all over the past few days! I hope I can access it again as soon as possible! I couldn't find any motivation to surf the net if d-addicts is down (well, at least I couldn't access it).

One thing that I'm pondering is: can't this thread serve a better, more useful and more relevant talk on the d-addict's site and content rather than just being molested for instances whenever it's down or inaccessible? Hmmmm.
On the other hand, I could always lock this topic as ex-mod sephy1024 had done in the past (not to mention that I myself unlocked it in hopes and anticipation that the discussion would take a turn to something more productive). Or, even perhaps possibly change the name of the thread (to something more relevant to the content as the current title is somewhat misleading, especially to new users) if this thread will be used from now on to discuss when D-addicts is down and when D-addicts is up. *lightbulb goes on*
Just something that was bothering me and I thought I'd bring it up. Personally, I just think that the current majority of talk is a waste of time when more productive talks on D-addicts and what the site has to offer would be much more beneficial and productive.
Looking forward to if anyone wishes to opine. _________________

I think this thread serves an important purpose, letting people know the status of d-addicts being up or down. If d-addicts truly goes down, you can come here to confirm that it is not just you having the problem. If you find out it is just you, you may be able to get help or figure out the problem knowing it is either you or your ISP.
It may be kind of boring for others to look in on such conversations, agreed. But any truly interesting conversation about d-addits probably goes on at, well, d-addicts.
Also, some time ago, I believe Ruroshin mentioned that if there were serious site problems, and he couldn't make an announcement at d-addicts, he'd make one here. He's posted a number of very informative posts to this thread in the past. I think he hasn't needed to recently because d-addicts has been pretty stable.

I can see both sides of this arguments, but personally, I only see this thread as a "what's the current condition?" of d-addicts. Honestly when I see this thread in the "Latest Posts" it's an indicator to me that there may be access issues on that site.

For some reason every now and then the server load just goes crazy to the point that the server is unusable. Its actually still up but there's something or a rogue process that has taken over the entire load of the server so nothing else can be executed.
I had tried in past to figure this out but to no available because it usually happens when I''m away and when I get back I can't logon to the server to find out whats wrong. At first I thought it might of been someone just doing DDoS attacks but a server reboot always fixes this and a DDoS attack would just start up again but it never does so I have ruled out DDoS.
So that must leave some rogue process. However, after every reboot I have checked logs and can't determine the exact poblem, I do believe it is apache related but thats about as far as I got.
I had installed a process monitor tool to kill any process that exceeds a certain resource limit and I had thought this was working until now which it clearly is failing to do its job. So all I can do now is ask the ISP to do a server reboot to get things backup again.
To add to this problem, I'm currently writing this from the library at my university because I'm in the middle of working on an team assignment due next week. My team mates sitting opposite me is probably wondering why I'm typing so fast at this very moment and thinking I'm on a roll Anyway, basically I can't afford to spend too much time sorting this out so every now and then d-addicts.com will become unavailable but probably no more than several hours when it does happen (unless I'm asleep). The tracker d-addicts.net however is unaffect by this so you can happily download away even if d-addicts.com is unavailable.

You prove a good point. Ruroshin's past informative posts has been of great help in revealing the status of D-addicts and I am sure that if something were to happen to the site, he would use this thread as a resource to explain the problem to other D-addicts users. I have no gripe with that at all. D-addicts is like our "sister site", so please do not misunderstand me and think that I am trying to shun them out.
As far as interesting conversations on D-addicts here, that wasn't what I was trying to get at. I just think that this thread should have some other discussions on D-addicts rather than....
"Is it down? Nooooo. Oh never mind, it's back up. YAY!"
Y'know, stuff like that.
Perhaps this thread is being "abused"? Even when the site has a slight "hiccup" for not even an hour or so, immediately do you see several posts here by users who sound like it's the end of the world, only to see them post again a several hours later with a mere "Whew. I'm glad it's back up". And in some cases, it was the users computer and not the site itself, but look how quick they were to post here before checking their own comp for accessibility problems.
If I were to search this entire thread for Ruroshin's updates and post on the D-addicts problem, I would have to wade through pages and pages of (usually the case) 3-4 word posts. "Is D-addicts down/Is D-addics down again?" _________________
